Congrats to Butler.   Did not see it coming.   I was impressed with SH's win at Creighton.   Trap game?    Head scratcher.   Apparently, Gibbs is SH's linchpin.

Butler has a very good young coach. He had head coaching experience before coming to Butler.

Great to see a team like butler win. I love how the big east will have 1
Yes ONE ranked team next week. This conference is so frustrating. The wrong teams are winning. Should be 4 ranked. Teams now just one.

We'll have 7 bids at this rate, but most will be middle seeds. Comes down to winning in March, the question is if you'd rather have more teams or higher seeded ones.

Didn't watch game but saw box score and Mobley was 1-for-15 from field.  If he did that for Marquette there would be posters here hiring assassins to take him out.

They'd be asking for UN intervention.

Mobley appeared to be cramping-up through-out the game.  He was not his normal self.

Agreed. Get 3-4 teams to the second weekend and one to the Final Four and it won't matter what seed line they earned.

We aren't getting 7 bids.

People really couldn't see this coming?

This league is a bunch of extremely equal teams. It is time people realize this. None of the teams outside of Nova are really that good but they are also far from bad.

I actually picked this in a pick em I do. SHU got a few nice home wins, they ain't some top 10 squad lol

Butler is a better overall team.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

The reason I enjoy Big East Basketball is that any team can beat any other team any time.  I know it's cliche, but the parity leads to a much more enjoyable conference season than watching the likes of Penn State or Az State get hammered by the top teams in their respective conferences.

Preach on, brother.

The masses have been blinded by media hysteria. Nova is head and shoulders above the rest and that will wash out with a 15-3 record. There are six teams that are equal every day of the week, just a matter of who got better sleep will determine the win. Then, there are three poor squads in Creighton, DePaul, and a battle royale between SJU and MU (likely us).

The other trope that needs to be thrown away is this bullshit about road wins. Yes, the Big East started 9-1 for the home team. Over the next 10 games that record was 5-5. Georgetown's win over DePaul began the third set of 10 games at 1-0 for the road team. A win for the road team shouldn't surprise anyone at this point, unless it comes against Nova.

MUfan12

Last year it was a bunch of bad teams 5-10. The middle is far stronger this season.

Still think the BE gets 6 teams in this year, and that's a really strong accomplishment. Once MU and Creighton rebuild it will be even more competitive.

forgetful

Not that surprising.  Remember, Butler also has wins over UNC, Georgetown and St. Johns.  The conference right now is under-rated if you look at RPI:

Villanova        5
Providence    13
Butler           14
Seton Hall     18
Georgetown   30
Xavier           42
St. Johns       44

Right now all these teams should be in the dance.  Also, Villanova, Providence, Butler and Seton Hall should all be ranked in the top 25, the fact that they are not shows bias against the conference.

I think in the end only one of Xavier/St. Johns gets in, but I think it is very likely that we sneak a 7th in anyway through the auto-bid.

With this parity we will. 7 teams in the RPI top-45, all of which have a SOS in the top-35. Each team in that category is at least +2 in terms of quality non-conference wins as opposed to bad losses and only Providence has a sub-150 loss.

If Xavier, St John's, Georgetown, Butler, Providence, and Seton Hall all win 8+ conference games, we will have a good shot at 7 teams. Butler and Georgetown may need to get 9 wins, but I think the odds of that are pretty good.

We've seen very soft bubbles in recent years and having the second strongest conference RPI is huge. The only X-factor is if Marquette, Creighton, and DePaul combine for 20+ wins. Getting seven will require someone to be bad.

Well I sure hope it's the two that aren't Marquette. Maybe we can tell Creighton to, you know, take a fall?
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.
