Who is going to play point next year?  Duane?  I don't think he is ready for it.

That's a whole year away, and you can't tell me that they're finding someone who will have more experience.

Graduate transfer.  Juco transfer.  And its more than experience.

Duane will have plenty of experience by the end of the year. The ability is all there. The coaches will get it focused properly.

Well tell that to the coaches who are still recruiting Juco PGs.

Duane will be starting at pg, backed up by nick n. Come on now...

If they can get guys who can shoot and distribute from the PG postion I am all for it. In the meantime Duane is the man.

I have a feeling we'll add either a JUCO or transfer, but I'm fine if it falls to Duane. He'll have a year of experience and eventually will have to grow into the role. The best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores. Travis made a similar transition when Cordell Henry graduated. Duane could do the same.

If his sister's is a baller named Ivana, you've got a great name and match in Brew Town.

What about Haanif Cheatham has the backup PG?  If you think this has already been decided, I believe that you are mistaken.  Jobs are earned in practice, not in recruiting guru rankings.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

It would be nice to find a guy like this with immediate eligibility, where this year or a pg next year.

I'm not holding my breath hoping that there is another one out there.  Soon the second semester will start and it will be too late for this year.

I have similar thoughts about Duane.  But would still like to see us add a PG with experience to help out.

Haanif known for being a complete player with lots of court vision who keeps his teammates involved. Can he step into that role as a freshman in the Big East? I don't know, only time will tell.

You two are so busy trying to bite my ankles, you can't figure out that I am basing my assessment of the PG based on who Wojo & Co. are recruiting.  They are looking at a bunch of Juco PGs.

It is obvious that they want multiple guards who can handle.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

If we get the Duane we saw in the first seven games, I'd be happy with him starting.

If we get the Duane we saw in all the games since then, I'd be wishing for another year of Derrick.

Personally, I think Duane is the man to beat for the starting PG job. If that holds, I think we will be pretty good next season. If we can find an established graduate transfer PG and slide Duane over to the starting SG position, I think we will be a great team.

I think we have three players for next season who are "definite" starters:

Duane
Henry
Luke

The rest of the players are question marks. There's a lot of talent there, I just don't think any of them have established themselves as potential starters. I think if you can find two immediate impact players to fill in the starting PG, SG, or SF postion, you do it. My personal preference would be a graduate transfer PG and Deshawn Freeman (SF from the same juco as DJO). I think the last scholarship should go to a transfer who will end up in the same class as Sandy.

I have always felt that having multiple guards with good handles is what wins tournament games. Case in point U Conn last year. So I hope Wojo  & Co find a few more good ones.

In the meantime the guys we have are going to have to keep growing and maturing. They have talent for sure.

Yeah I agree with this.  Duane will get a lot of time and will likely continue to start.  I'm just not sure he is the primary ball handler.

JJJ will be much improved by the end of this year. The coaches are making a big impact on his overall game and I see continuous improvement.  . He will be an important player in the mix.

I don't think that many people (other than Georgetown's coaches) saw L.J. Peak starting for Georgetown at PG as a freshman.  All the recruiting services (and Georgetown's basketball roster for that mater) had/have him listed as a forward.
