Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what does aina stand for/mean?

CTWarrior

Good question.  I always figured, from context, that it means "don't you agree?", as in being short for "ain't that right?"
Calvin:  I'm a genius.  But I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

It's basically an old German phrase for "right?"  So when 4ever said:  "Baby sitters make the best walk-ons, aina?"

Basically it means, "Baby sitters make the best walk-ons, right?"

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I thought it was Milwaukee-speak (as per CTWarrior's & the Sultan's explanation), so it gets thrown in on postings for pure comedic value.

It stands for Armenian International News Agency.

The internet says so, so it must be true.  Aina?

An interesting part of Scoop history is that the moderators once set the site to automatically change aina to another word anytime that it was used in a post forcing 4ever and others to go to ain'a for a while.  That practice was discontinued as mysteriously as it was begun...
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Kinda lost its comedic value after the first 5,000 uses or so.
Have some patience, FFS.

For me, it provides MUScoop with a sense of place that I like.

It's just not a 4evers post without it.

So you agree with me.

I definitely agree. It's neither fun, nor funny

Not to mention the posts containing the word rarely, if ever, offer an insight.

.....and 98% of the posts have some form of a sexual reference to it.

When I was at MU there was a contest to give County Stadium a name. The winning entry was the Aina Hey Sports Palace. The County/Brewers declined to adopt the name in any formal capacity.

The longer version put together by my out of state brothers at MU was:

Aina hey, don'tcha know, sh*t fer sure, down der on da sout side.

TV Director can do it with a combo Albert the Alley Cat and New Jersey accent.  He may be able to add to the line too.

On Schroeder 10N we had the Two Petes from somewhere 'Up Nort.' They punctuated virtually every sentence with "too, yet" (i.e. "You guys goin' down to eat der, too yet?")

And, doncha know, this odd colloquialism caught on with a passion and became standard speak on 10N for the balance of the semester, der, too yet. You betcha dupa!

A brilliant idea, actually,

Since 4Never's comments are usually too inane to inspire a reply, it will actually work.
