How Good was the Pilot of the Luke Fischer Show?

In short, it was the best debut Marquette fans have seen in at least 14 seasons, possibly longer. Since the 2000-2001 season, 72 different players have donned the Marquette uniform and logged at least one minute of game time. During these 14 seasons, Marquette fans have witnessed the debuts of some of their greatest […]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://pixel.wp.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=12774&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

Some impressive debuts to be sure but Dwyane's debut in the Great Alaska Shootout was a triad of triumphs.

Line in first round game against Tennessee:  30 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 steals and 1 block in 26 minutes.

Second round game against 20th ranked Indiana, the winner was Wade's put back layup with 11 seconds left.

In MU's win against Gonzaga in the championship game, it was a man against boys in the eyes of this observer.

Luke made a very impressive debut and no doubt positively changed MU's prospects this year.

Dwyane debuted a HOF career in his first game as a Warrior.

I would agree that Dwyane's run in Alaska was one of historic proportions. But this article only looked at the very first game a player played in a Marquette Uniform. Dwyane's debut was against Villanova. He then played against Chicago State (where he had another fantastic game) before heading up to Anchorage.

Wade's debut was in November of 2001, not 2002.  That Nova game referenced was during the FF year.

Yea, but Wade's debut resulted in a CTC Banner. Can Fischer say the same?

Wonder how many of those other players had their debut midway through their sophomore season?  On a depleted roster? With no other rostered player at that position?

Its one thing to note that Fischer had a great debut.

Its another not to note that his debut was quite unlike any of the 72 other players he was ostensibly compared with.

Yes. There should have been a dozen footnotes included to tell us who was a 1 yr JUCO transfer, 2 yr JUCO transfer, partial-qualifier who had been practicing with the team, injured player thrown into a nationally televised game to most everyone's surprise, etc.

And, of course, that Luke is playing with a shoulder barely hanging into place!
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.
