I am personally so sick of watching the senior class put up unimpressive numbers and barely contribute in the games...both fitz and barro should be by now, much more improved and much more of a factor now, but they are so inconsitent. If barro or fitz doesn't put up double digit points scoring, it may be a long season!

That was a helluva recruiting class!

It can't be fun being this bitter.

I mean, if Crean wins, then he gets to stay longer and gets more hype... which you hate.

If Crean loses, then MU loses... which you hate.

I cannot imagine how painful it is to be you.

I'm glad I'm just a big fan and can actually enjoy MU basketball for what it is, entertainment.

I wouldn't be completely negative on Barro - he had some flashes of his former self.  Hopefully he has shaken the rust off and will have a good game tonight be cause we will need him.

That's my point exactly, he's a senior now...he shouldn't have an excuse to be rusty, and neither should fitz...The only way I feel that MU will be better then last season is if one of those two comes to play and so far they are playing like freshman!

I'm not completely negative on Barro...he's one of my favorite guys on the team. But that was a lousy recruiting class. This follows last year's senior class of Lott and Kinsella.

Ok, what do you suppose we do about the 2003 and 2004 recruiting classes now in the 2007-08 season?  The 2005 class was excellent.  The 2006 class is looking good with Hayward and Cubillan.  The 2007 class, unfortunately, has been hit by some injuries, but all indications are that it will be another good class.  2008 looks solid and 2009 is off to a good start. Again, what would you recommend we do to fix the past?  Give it a rest already.

Barro was fantastic yesterday and to say anything else would be ignorant of the game.

Deep breaths now: We. Are. THREE. Games. Into. The. Season.

How about we give them through Maui (heck, give 'em UWM, too), and then we start to worry?

I didn't start this thread. Somebody began by questioning the senior class. Why don't you question that guy who started the thread? In response to his post, I pointed out that it was a generally weak class. What's the problem?

I agree that the 2006 class is solid and I am excited about this Taylor kid coming in next year.

Your reputation is hurting you here. You are right, the current senior class isn't very strong... but when you blast the university and coach all of the time, it gets tiresome... and you are seeing how people interpret your posts after all of this time.

Barro has developed into an above average center (his game isn't pretty, but the numbers are pretty solid) and Fitz is a bit of an enigma because I can't figure out how he should be used best. He's a good ball handler and used to be the team's back-up PG... now he's at PF and doesn't get more then 3 shots in an given game. He has good skills... but for some reason they don't seem to be translating to the court very well.

Anyways, you are right, neither is a great player... but when you whine about players armbands, the color gold/gold t-shirts, crean's karate outfits, the schedule, the nickname, Crean's radio show, DJ's socks, etc. etc. people become jaded against you just like you are jaded against coach Crean.

Sorry dude, but that's just the facts.

muwarrior87

Barro didn't play competitive basketball until much later in life than the rest of this team.  He has pretty bad hands and doesn't play that well with his back to the basket.  He is a pretty good defender and is aggressive when he's on the court. He was a project coming in and when you have those, sometimes they don't always pan out.  As for Fitz, he needs so much time to get a shot off that he has to practically be the only one on one half of the court to get a shot off, which is disappointing. I was hoping his release would have gotten quicker and he would have gotten more confidence in stepping up and hitting a shot every now and then but it doesn't seem like that is the case thus far.  He is going to be a role player and hopefully he has the confidence to fill that role.  Like others have said, we will see how the year pans out further along in the season.  Both of these guys show flashes of brilliance and then will regress.  They are not the most consistent guys on the team but if they can show in the next month that they will be able to step up and perform when called upon, I think they will have pretty good seasons.

You are right.  I should admonish the poster who initiated the thread rather than the one who made the maddeningly repetitive comment. ::)

Amo and Niv Berkowitz were apart of this class as well.

Before PRN turns this into Crean ran them off, Amo was a bad fit here and Niv got homesick.

I don't know, being rusty because you spent part of the summer in Senegal instead of in Milwaukee practicing would seem to be a pretty good reasont to be rusty.  Fitz shouldn't have an excuse though, that I can agree with.

The problem with Berkowitz was beyond homesickness. He was atrocious.

I actually agree with PRN for once, the Niv and Mortenson experiments were not good.

Niv came in dubbed as the second coming....2 minutes after watching him in warm ups I knew this kid as a bust!!!

We have so many--'oh yeah that guy'--moments as of late---Niv, Mason, Mortensen, Amo, etc etc.  Even when I saw Blackledge on the bench this year I thought the same....'oh yeah that guy is on the team too..'

I wouldn't put Mason and Amo in the same class as those other guys.  Both were pretty good players but just didn't work out here for whatever reason.

MU gimp ONE

i think fitz and ooze showed up tonight... don't you?

Niv Berkowitz is hands down the worst player to don an MU uniform in my lifetime.  We have had some bad one's... Candelino and  Luerck come to mind.  But, Candelino would eat Niv's lunch, i do not think Niv ever managed to get the ball over half court during his brief debacle.  He was an average high school player at best, no better than a walk on.  Crean...note to self ....do not ever sign a guy again sight unseen from the other side of the world.

TallTitan34

I'd say seniors Ooze and Fitz showed up last night vs. Oklahoma State!
