MU is 0-4 all time vs the Cowboys, and coincidentally, the last time they met was in Hawaii (in the Rainbow Classic) in 1998.

Here's the recap and box score (little hard to read) from that date:

Oklahoma State 57, Marquette 54: Oklahoma State raised its record to 2-0 by holding off a hard charge by Marquette (2-1).

The Cowboys won despite missing several layups and free throws, and committing a couple of turnovers in the final four minutes.

"It was a slugfest defensively on both ends," Sutton said. "It shouldn't be for us because we're a veteran club."

A basket by Peterson with 2:28 left put Oklahoma State up for good. He finished with 23 points, including five 3-pointers.

Marquette still had a couple of opportunities to pull it out, but Mike Bargen, who finished with 18 points, missed a free throw that would have tied the game with 25 seconds left. Teammate Jarrod Lovette grabbed the rebound and was fouled, but missed the front end of a 1-and-1.

"This was a game we could have won," Marquette coach Mike Deane said. "We just couldn't take care of the basketball down the stretch."

Eddie Sutton is a legend.  His son, Sean is a work in progress at best.  The match ups in this contest look good.  Ok State doesn't have the huge aircraft carrier.  They do have some nice quick athletes.

Wow, I was at that game and I don't remember Wardle only playing a minute.  I do remember that Cordell Henry was hurt.  He, Nnamaka, Diggs and Harris were freshmen.  Bart Miller was our point guard was our point guard, and he didn't do half bad against Gottleib.  The next night he struggled against the pressure of Nichols State.  Desmond Mason had a highlight alley oop at the basket on my end.  I was actually really encouraged that night.  After the Nichols State game I thought it might be a long season, which turned out to be true.

I'm refuse to believe Gottlieb didn't lead his team in steals.

That box score reminded me of the following.

Only four year players qualify because at least Hester, Aamont gave up their schollie.

1. Polo
2. Streater
3. Bart Miller
4. Shaw
5. Claussen
6. Mueller
7. Joseph
8. Grimm
9. Grosse
10. Sanders

Note: Krysiak, Luter and Kinsella didnt eat 4 schollies
