I don't know about you, but I expect Christmas will be coming early for my family and me.

My wife and I are expecting our second child and the arrival will be any day now. We don't know the gender, so feel free to get a pool going.

The upcoming bundle of joy means that I'm going to be on leave from work for two weeks starting today. I won't be writing during that time or tweeting (much). There is a coverage plan in place, so make sure to stick with JSOnline for Marquette news while I'm away.

I'll be back on Dec. 28 for Marquette's game against Morgan State. I plan on watching and/or DVRing the games I'm missing so I can hit the ground running when I return. I'm sure I can also look forward to a few tweets and emails to keep me in the loop.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you. No matter what or how you celebrate, please be safe and enjoy the time you get to spend with your loved ones.

I know (I think?) everybody is just having fun with the suggestions that Matt buy his new baby a Marquette outfit or that he name him/her after our heroes, but I'll say this anyway:

I would be quite disappointed in him if he did anything close to any of that. He is a journalist -- and, it seems, a good one -- not a fan.

I love the coverage we're getting from Matt. We need it to continue. What we don't need is another cheerleader.
