Duane Wilson Named BIG EAST Rookie Of The Week

Dec. 1, 2014

Freshman guard Duane Wilson of the Marquette University men's basketball team has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Wilson, who redshirted in 2013-14 after suffering an injury in the preseason, earned the accolade for the first time in his young career. The last freshman to capture the award for Marquette was Vander Blue on Dec. 13, 2010.

Wilson helped MU to a 3-1 record and third-place finish at the Orlando Classic by averaging 17.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in the four games last week. He shot 47.7 percent (21-of-44) from the field overall and 19-of-22 (.864) from the free throw line. His week was highlighted by a career-best 30-point effort in the win over Tennessee.

Marquette returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 11:30 a.m. CT when the team hosts rival Wisconsin at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
