We've played Tennessee a few times over the years. But today was the most satisfying win since 1971, when we defeated Tennessee 56-30 in Milwaukee. As I recall (and I'm an old Man), it was 12-0 before UT got the ball across the mid-court line. We were up like 24-6 at halftime.

Yes, I was living in Tennessee at the time!

What made today special is the Mutual of Omaha loss and the near loss to NJIT. In both of those games, we just didn't look like Marquette. We played Georgia Tech and looked good against a not-so-good team, played Sparty close and then took it to the Vols. Except for the first few minutes of the game, we were in control throughout and generally looked good doing it. We shot 53% and the same team that gave up 97 points to an insurance company held a major SEC school to 59 points.

Something is working.

When the reinforcements get her for Arizona State and next year, we're going to be a team to reckoned with.
