Just watched the game on DVR.   5th grade practice ran long.   Nobody has done this yet?
1.   Duane is everything I hoped he would be last year.
2.   Derrick had a good game.   He didn't start, MU down big.   Do the math.
3.   A few forced 3's, but for the most part good shot selection with lots of basket attacking.
4.  Scrap the man.   Play the zone.   Goes against all logic and every one of Wojo's instincts, but at least until Luke is back and in the flow, the zone has to be our base defense.
5.   Rebounding.   Eeewww.   Will be a constant refrain.
6.   Good team effort, lots of energy and passion even when it went poorly early.  3 games in 4 days playing 7 guys.
7.    90+ minutes, one turnover, Derrick in Florida.   Haters gonna hate anyway.
8.   2-1 record with wins over an ACC school and an SEC school, while playing a B1G power tough.   All any of us can ask.   Take it, run.   Savor it.
9.   The switch to the zone and its success is changing my long term thoughts and goals for this team.
10.   Wiscy next.   Try to not get rolled or injured.

Administration behind Wojo and the team 100%. Awesome to see Lovell tweet after every game.

Weird.    Was it commented on when Juan ran the baseline on an inbounds after a turnover, not a made basket, with no call?   Also, was it noticed that Juan and Wojo were really unhappy with each other during the timeout when it got to 17-6?

Caught that too... I was surprised they didn't call anything as well as the announcers not commenting on it. Can't worry about it now.

Yes. Appeared Juan swore at Wojo. Wojo was asked about it post-game and just glazed over it. Heat of the moment thing, apparently.

Juan's idea to floor slap starting the second half, so it doesn't seem like it was indicative of some divide between player/coach.

Against a team we have more talent than and are playing at home????

MU wins next week and the students storm the court. Heard it here first.

Wojo swore at him first. Juan did not end up on the bench, appeared to fire up the team.

I'd love some of your optimism, and even more I'd love your drug connection.

We talked about storming the court. It has been agreed upon that if Wisconsin is number 1 and we're unranked it will be done. But since the rankings come out tomorrow and Kentucky will still be number 1 it's not gonna happen.

If MU wins, do it anyway.   You will never regret it.

Actually Derrick did start.  JJJ did not.
It was Duane, Derrick, Carlino, Juan and STJ at the opening tip.

brewcity77

I'm generally not a fan of storming the court. But with a new coach, a home loss to Omaha, and a rabidly cocky Badger fanbase, I'd be okay with it.

Though I'm never against acting like you've been there. The whole "beating Bucky is just what we do" sort of thing.

94Warrior

Just shrug and walk away when we beat #2 UW.

No need to rush the court vs. a team who would have lost to Oregon in the round of 32 last season, had Bucky not been playing in front of a sellout home crowd.  They may be on top, and be all full of themselves right now...but we are coming for them.

Nope. JJJ started. Derrick came in when we went down 6-0 and sat maybe 1 minute after that.

Not on my TV.

It was Duane, Matt, JJJ, Juan and Steve.  Derrick came in when we were down 6-0.

Winner, winner. You are correct. The other guy did not look at his TV correctly.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

willie warrior

Glad we won and glad for the team. But....we really had our ass habded to us on rebounds. had 18 offensive and we had 5. Not going to win much if that disparity happens too often.

I feel like Derrick is just better at coming off the bench. Like a Ben Gordon of sorts. He had great games when he was not starting.

No comments by the TV guys but lots on the game thread.

You are correct.  JJJ did start, not Derrick.  I mis-remembered.

BTW, I have no problem with Derrick playing in his current role.  Duane is going to be on the floor 30+ minutes / game for the next 4 years.  I'll leave how JJJ, Carlino and Derrick fill the rotation up to Wojo.  It seems he has a good handle on things.

Hopefully not - Gordon was as high of a volume shooter ass you''ll ever see.

Amen!  Overrated and un-athletic team.  Get in their jocks, push at all opportunities and get a big and raucous crowd behind every MU run!!!  MU wins at the end 75 to 71.

Thanks Tower for volunteering your thought.  ;D

1. I missed Juan's words to Wojo, but judging by what I saw the rest of the game, I don't think that there's anything meaningful to be seen there.  We've all said stuff, we've all blown off stuff later... no big deal.
2. Given the setting, there were no complaints on the beer menu.
3. If Fischer can average 10/5 or 5/10 a game, this team is going to hit a serious inflection point in a couple weeks.
4.  That said, I'm now much more optimistic about the rest of the season; frankly, I'm willing to write off the first couple weeks of the season at this point, and I think the committee will, too, to some extent.
5. That's right... I said the C-word.  Maybe it's because I like some things I saw this weekend.  Maybe it's because I think Luke is going to be productive.  Maybe it's because Wojo hasn't missed a tourney since his freshman year.  Regardless, I may not be the first to lob out March optimism, but I'll probably the first to encourage the pessimists to bring it on.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.
