Let's take a look at this.  Snyder, Amaker, Dawkins, Brey and Collins all took jobs in at "Power 5" schools.

Dement:  Was on Coach K's staff in the early 80s.
Henderson and O'Toole:  Late 90s.
Brickley:  Director of Basketball Ops...not an assistant
Capel:  Never on Coach K's staff until he was fired from Oklahoma

So you have to go back 15-20 years to find a true assistant that went to a mid-major

Marquette isn't a mid-major program, in a mid-major conference, that is fading from relevance on a poor television network.

Mid-majors don't..

...hire Coach K's top assistant
...bring in what might be a top 5 class in the country
...invest in their facilities like we have seen in the past week

So for all the hand-wringing we saw when Buzz left, let's be clear.  Marquette may not be elite.  Marquette may never repeat its success of the 1970s.  But Marquette is damn good, and very relevant in the world of college basketball.

The next few years are going to be REALLY fun to watch!!!

But Myron Medcalf thinks it is!

Perhaps you have already forgotten the comments Buzz made regarding Marquette and, in particular, The Big East on his way out the door to VT.
I've forgotten - can you source that one for me? Looking for the quotes you're referencing.
"Half a billion we used to do about every two months...or as my old boss would say, 'you're on the hook for $8 million a day come hell or high water-.    Never missed in 6 years." - Chico apropos of nothing

Half of Coach K's Tree?

So of the guys who still have a HC job, I see an Ivy (that doesn't really count as a high-, mid- or low-major) and a high-major that recruits from the sideshow dept of clown-hosted TV shows.

Other than that, the "K's ass'ts don't coach mid-majors" thing doesn't really hold up based on who still has a HC job.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Brey did spend six seasons at Delaware before going to Notre Dame.

Myron Medcalf wouldn't know a mid-major if it hit him in the head.  After all, he's a low-major journalist (made apparent by the fact that the linked article was corrected from the original version more than once).

Good point.  Mid 90s.

OK maybe my exuberance got the better of me on that point.

I do believe Pakuni was defending your exuberance by pointing out that his second HC job was a big step down from his first.
