My liver's getting old and I'm curious what all of your strategies are for avoiding or curing hangovers.

Spicy pork skins and pepsi.

One real answer: bloody mary.

Take a b12 vitamin before bed, works wonders...general multivitamin with b12 works too.  Does not help with nausea, but definitely helps prevent headaches.

I was just going to say this.  My friend is a pharmacist and this is what he recommends.

Eat lots of protein before you start drinking. Have a glass of water every 3-4 drinks. Snack while drinking. Eat after drinking. Take around 500mg Ibuprofen and either a B12 supplement or a multivitamin with a large glass of water before bed.

Personally, whiskey, tequila and wine give me awful hangovers. If I stick to just beer or just vodka, I'm ok. So find out what works for you.

What do you mix your whiskey and tequilla with?  Sugar and carbonation will kill you.

Good tequilla and good whiskey straight or on the rocks are much kinder.  Too much of anything will inflict pain.

If all else fails, Real Chili.  It has B vitamins in it.

In our first class of Ancient Greek and roman history, Fr. Donnelly told us all to drink a glass of water before we went to bed after a night of drinking to prevent a hangover. I don't think he knew how much we drank.

Real Chili will generally cure hangovers, college breakup blues, constipation, Marquette basketball losses, homesickness, and an assortment of other ailments.

Usually I will just sleep off hangovers, with water and Gatorade during my waking moments.

There is no silver bullet. You have to pay the piper.

Interesting, I'll try the B12 thing then

Sadly I don't live in MKE anymore so Real Chili would need to start delivering to Chicago.

A bloody Mary or mimosa generally does the trick for me but I had never been this hungover to the point that I couldn't keep anything down today :/ worth it for the open bar @ the Hawks opener though.

So I'd be paying myself? Haha

1. Alcohol
2. Don't drink

Is that a real option?

Um....no.

I agree with the water suggestion.  Just curious....has anyone ever tried Jim Koch's suggestion with yeast? If it helps with not getting drunk as fast, would it help with a hangover?

Sam Adams Co-Founder Reveals Secret to Drinking All Day Without Getting Drunk

As the Boston Beer Company's co-founder and chairman, Jim Koch knows a thing or two about drinking beer. It's kind of his job.

In a recent interview with Esquire, the face of Sam Adams, which celebrated its 30th anniversary on Thursday, revealed his trick to drinking all day without getting drunk.

"Active yeast. Like you get at the grocery store," he told the magazine. "One teaspoon per beer, right before you start drinking."

Rather than taking a packet of yeast to the face—which probably tastes awful—Koch said that he mixes the white powder with some yogurt.

The Boston Beer company chairman also broke down the science behind his secret, saying that the enzymes in active dry yeast break down alcohol molecules into smaller parts of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. The process is similar to how the liver metabolizes alcohol.

Koch said that he learned the technique from his late friend and biochemist, Joseh Owades, who he called "the best brewer who's ever lived."

Before you try this trick though, know that it won't completely reverse the effects of consuming beer, as the drinking guru warned, "It will mitigate – not eliminate – but mitigate the effects of alcohol!"

Sweat. Lots of it.

This.

Start with one light beer (a real one, not macro crap) under 6% at brunch. An hour after you eat, go to the gym and double your usual fitness routine. After your shower, you won't be at top speed but feel well enough to handle a knitting session at your in-laws.

I have always been immune to hangovers no matter what/how much I drank to the point I accuse my hungover friends of being overly drama queens. I don't drink water after drinking or take B12 although I do take vitamins everyday anyways.

Take a 5 Hour Energy before you start drinking. Has worked every time.

5-hour energy has b12 in it.

Pot or else get a job in the alcohol industry to become a professional. Just drink on regular basis and you won't get hangovers.
But I like to throw handfuls...
