Because Duane posted it on twitter.........

Yes following a player on the Marquette team on twitter is like stalking teenage girls........ ::)

Give me a break....

I said flip the script...follow 18 year old women's soccer team or volleyball team....they're still a Marquette team...are they not?

To each their own, I find it creepy to be following a bunch of teenagers at the individual level, regardless if they play for MU men's hoops, MU women's soccer, or 18 year olds in general.   If you started following Goose's daughter on twitter (she's on the soccer team per Goose), that would be a little creepy to me.  Why is it any less creepy to follow the same aged kid just because he's a guy and on the men's hoops team?  Again, to each their own....I'll wait until they hit the pros, are out of college, etc.

You assume bad intent.  You are smarter than that.

If people don't want their tweets read, they shouldn't tweet.

Chico's, I enjoy what you bring to the board for the most part but this was stupid.

Free country, to each their own.

In my view, it's a lot different following the TEAM (a collective unit) on a message board or facebook or twitter, than it is following individuals on their own at that young age.  To each their own, but if it's ok to follow 18 year guys on the MU hoops team, why would there be ANY hesitancy whatsoever to follow an 18 year old female player on the women's tennis team?  Both play for MU, both have twitter accounts, both are student athletes......yet it is creepy as hell to follow one, but not the other.   I'll stick to not friending or following any individual that can't have a beer legally.

I am Facebook friends with a couple of my son's ex-girlfriends, and a few students from the university where I work.  Does that make me a creep?

I think Chicos has a warped understanding of social media and what it is about.

LeDuc's is the best. Way out there though. Oscar's isn't bad for custard.

Nothing creepy about that Sultan.  In fact, most kids these days WANT to get followers on Twitter - and I have ZERO doubt the basketball recruits being courted by high major D-1 basketball and football programs have tons of followers from all kinds of schools fan bases - including adults in those fan bases.

Kids view Twitter largely as being a medium to build their own brand...and the more awareness of them, the more of a "brand" they have.

I'm going to chalk this up to Chicos not having kids as old as mine.  I don't think he has a good understanding of how this generation views its relationships with their parents and with adults in general.

How about a golfer or tennis player, male or female, who turns pro at 15 or 16? Is it OK to follow them on Twitter because they are pros or is it still creepy?

How about an actor or actress who is in his or her teens? Can a non-creep follow them?

Does it make a difference if they get a paycheck? And if so will it be "less creepy" to follow college kids when they start getting paid?

I guess I'm wondering where the line is.

I have never tweeted, nor have I ever followed a tweeter. It's not something that interests me. But as I understand it, a person who tweets - especially a person in the public eye - basically is saying, "Hey! Look at me!" Or is that not true?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy about any of this. I wouldn't follow a tweeter but based on my limited knowledge of the medium, I guess I don't see why it would be "creepy" to follow somebody who seemingly is begging to be followed. I mean, it's not like the follower is showing up at the followee's front door.
