Nice.  How long does the Summer Jam run?  And what is the price of admission?  Anybody have any idea of what time and what court Coffey may play on?  Or any other MU targets, for that matter?

Thanks in advance.

Summer Jam runs through Sunday, although I think alot of teams are elimnated tomorrow. Coffey plays for Howard Pulley 17U and the schedule can be found on NY2LA.COM. I think admission is $10.

So, does anyone know if Howard Pulley 17U made it to a playoff game tomorrow?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Looks like they play in the quarterfinals at 8 AM. Don't know if Coffey is playing though.

I think Coffey really wants UNC and is holding off until he can get an offer from them. Tar Heels having a hard time getting recruits because of potential sanctions, and I think Coffey is hoping an offer will come his way as a result. Kind of reminds me of the Matt Ryan situation last year who ultimately settled on ND after it became clear he wouldn't get UNC  because of his injury.

I don't think that's the case at all.

UNC is the school that scares me most. Has for years re: Amir.

I'm willing to go out on a limb and guarantee he will come to MU. I feel completely confident Amir Coffey will come here.

I like your confidence.  When might he commit?

Hey brew, are you simply making an outlandish statement for the purpose of showing how over the top Groin was or rather is that actually what you truly think?  Can you provide any further guidance?  Thanks.

Note that I said "come to MU" and not "commit to MU" ;)

Coffey has already said Marquette will be one of his visits (along with Minnesota and Baylor). So I'm confident he's coming. Will he commit? From what I've heard, we're the leader, but still a little ways to go in this one. He does sound like a guy who wants to commit early, so hopefully we'll know in the next 2-3 months.

Gotcha.  Yeah, my kid went to Butler and got the red carpet treatment on his college visit.  Still decided on good old Marquette.  The good news is that solved my transportation problem with both rug rats at the same place.

Amir is back in action this weekend, playing with his HS team in a tourney. Sounded all good in two games yesterday; has another two games today.

That's good to hear. I'm really hoping the staff gets to evaluate him at least a bit before taking a commitment. He's been out a long time and with only one scholarship available (currently) it's an important decision to make as far as who they end up giving that to.

Personally, I still think a PF is really needed in that class. Now if Anim can play PF or if someone like Cohen or Wally can give some minutes there it would lessen that need, but I'll admit I don't love giving our only two 2016 scholarships to 2/3 wing players when that's our position of greatest depth.

From what Hayward'sHeroes says, if MU recruits Amir as a wing, we won't get him.  And I suspect that Wojo is honest upfront about how he's going to use a player.

I've said numerous times what position a player wants to play doesn't always line up with the position they will play. That's especially true for players 6'7" and taller. If the kid gets here and shows he can play some PG, so be it, but he's generally played wing in his career and will be recruited as such. I remember a lot of talk that Looney was a 2 and anyone recruiting him as a 3 or 4 wouldn't have a shot. Everyone recruited him as a 4, he went to UCLA as a 4, and was drafted to play in the NBA as a 4. That's just reality.

As far as Coffey, I guess my main question is how many players 6'7" and taller were recruited as PGs in the last decade? The only one that springs to mind immediately is Kyle Anderson. Those kids are pretty few and far between. We'll see, but I'd be surprised if anyone recruiting Coffey didn't see him as a wing first and give him other opportunities second.
