Before my time. Someone wanna give me the 2 sentence rundown on Grimm?

Tried hard. Not good.

MuMark

There is no comparison between Heldt and Grimm.......unless Heldt is great at moving screens.

A 6'10" 245 lb center from Brighton, Michigan.  Same class as Steve Novak, 2006.  Played in 99 games at MU, started in 11, but never played starter's minutes, high was 13.4 minutes as a junior.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I watched Chris last play in the summer tourney that culminates at the Al.  I think it was July '12.  Anyway, he had a great time banging and bumping with guys that were 8-10 years younger.  And he could still set a helluva pick.

Chris Grimm played great D on Alondo Tucker his junior year and we beat Bucky. He had a very good game at Bucky his senior year, too when we won. Chris Grimm, Badger killer.

Had anice game against G-Town at the BC as well.  Those 3 games, however, we're pretty much what he accomplished.

I try to forget the painful NCAA tourney loss to Stanford - watching Wesley Matthews (6'5'') and dwight burke (6'8'' with shoes on) try to defend the lopez twins.  And I thought to myself - why don't we have someone like Chris Grimm on the roster right now?  A big guy that bangs and works hard?  I wish so bad the amigos had a guy like that their senior year.  Oh well.

Back on topic...I like everything I read about Coffey and I'd love to see him in uniform.

He also had a dunk against Duke where he was cherry-picking on D.  Cannot forget that.

Quick, someone text him or something.

'Hey honey!  They're talking about me on scoop.  No, really!  I have no idea why it's in the Coffey thread.  They do that sometimes.'

Uhh, Heldt is far more athletic than Grimm along with more skills.
My comparison to Grimm centered around the belief, that while not a true power forward Heldt could be a big body at the four like Grimm and Heldt would be a better a better offensive player than Grimm.

Speaking of things that would be Grimm... I sure hope we get this Coffey kid!
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Jerry Meyer predicted Coffey to MU

Jerry Meyer predicted Coffey to MU

The coaching staff sure does play its cards close to the vest.  There seemed to be some momentum with Coffey a few months ago and then we haven't heard anything since.  Now Meyer predicts him to MU, which means that he at least heard there was some recent update somewhere along the way.  This would be a great get, obviously.

Just as likely, he just now noticed Mark Miller's prediction and changed his accordingly. There's a pattern there.

Possibly, but either way Mark is rarely wrong when it comes to MU

I guess he could have, but Miller made that prediction nearly 3 months ago.  If Meyer was just following Miller's prediction, I feel like it probably would've come closer to when Miller made his prediction.

Jerry Meyer usually follows suit on what Mark Miller does so if he switches from Iowa St to MU then I think we're rock solid (not saying Miller alone isn't good enough). My guess is in the next couple of days Jerry calls up Mark to ask why he picked MU, Mark tells him what he knows, and Jerry switches. If this goes down we're golden.

Just throwing this out there

Yup, you're right that's typically how it goes.  And I hope they're both right and that we're rock solid for this.  I just find it interesting that Jerry didn't change his prediction immediately following Mark's prediction, but rather it's coming 2 1/2 months later.  It's usually much quicker.

Think we can get a very recent meme tournament winner in here?

Seems he is all clear

It also appears that Coffey was in Milwaukee for the Summer Jam. Perhaps something there solidified Meyer's view of things.

Nice.  How long does the Summer Jam run?  And what is the price of admission?  Anybody have any idea of what time and what court Coffey may play on?  Or any other MU targets, for that matter?

Thanks in advance.
