The Spurs' ball movement in the first half reminded me of MU's 09-10 team.   Always moving, always getting it to the next guy until there is either an open 3 or a lay-up.
Fearless and cheerful because it is so much fun.

Yeah except that team didn't have a version of Tim Duncan.   ;)

But really you are completely correct.  This Spurs team is really a joy to watch when they are on.  They do a great job identifying, drafting and getting players to understand their roles.

We had a 6'4 version in Lazar.   ;D

Totally agree. Too bad our guys were between 5'8" and 6'4" instead of 6'2" and 6'11". Except for when teams were pounding us physically that team was really fun to watch.

I enjoyed watching that team as much as any team.  The way that ball moved around the perimeter was nothing short of amazing.  i think that was Buzz's best coaching job by far.  The team shooting, except for maybe DJO, was all downhill after that team (and I know I'm probably missing a few players).  Such great team play without the ball stopping or a guy dribbling aimlessly.

Since this year's team is going to be about that small, I hope that Wojo installs some kind of offense with that kind of movement and passing.

Great three point shooting teams like that one can be real fun...or they can be real frustrating.  That season they always seemed to have a run in them when they needed one - where they would hit a handful of threes in a row.  I kept waiting for the run to come against Washington, but it just never came.

Pretty likely after learning from Coach K.  I also expect some NBA iso play coming from point similar to the way they handled Kyrie Irving and Austin Rivers.  Not sure we'll use the PF and SF as much as Buzz loved to though.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

That game still haunts me as the most frustrating game I've ever watched.  Moreso than the huge blown leads against Florida State that year or the huge blown leads against Vandy and Louisville the following year.  We had that game for the taking and either of the teams were going to smash New Mexico and yet we choked.

Yeah but that's what I mean about three point shooting teams.  They can get cold.  I wouldn't call it a choke...it's just what happens when you overly rely on the outside shot.

This is exactly what would afflict UW the past few years.  Getting more interior scoring from Kaminsky really helped to balance out their offense.

Only reason I'd call it a choke is because we weren't even attempting to feed Lazar or Jimmy down low.  Didn't we score like 5 points, if that, in the last 8 minutes? A team as good at 3 point shot as that with a guy like Lazar should've had Washington when they were forced to spread out against us but instead we got tired (obvious lack of depth on that team) and settled for contested 3s

That Washington team went about 9 deep, whereas that MU team went about 6 1/2 deep.   Ran out of gas, quit doing the work that got the lead.   Not an original story.

Actually, I think the Knicks of the early 70's with Bradley, Frazier, Reed, and DeBuschere were jealous of those first 16 minutes. Not to mention the Walton & Lucas lead Portland team.

Best passing exhibition I have seen since either of those two teams.
