Very well spoken and might be a good peace time President-----but IMO believes too much in the sincerity of the islamo-facist movement in that he thinks everything can be solved by negotiation----that would be nice, but seems to me that's "pie in the sky"-----people who saw peoples heads off are very passionate in their agenda and aren't likely to give anything in negotiations anymore than the fanatics of Imperial Japan prior and during WW II were------also Chamberlin at Munich found out how sincere Hitler was in abiding with treaties when he marched into the Czech Sudateland.

At any rate he's even with Hillary in Iowa and gaining on her in NH.

On the Republican side-----Romney has huge leads in the first two primaries (Iowa & NH)----he's also taken the lead in South Carolina where he has received the endorsement of several leading Christian Conservatives.
Guliani has some baggage (3 wives & now the Kurek indicment). Meanwhile Romney is running significantly behind nationallyat 13%-----but that will change if he maintains his lead in the early primaries into January!

I'd take Romney over Giuliani but whomever it's going to be, I'm less than thrilled with Hillary, Obama, Romney, Giuliani......not exactly the cream.

Murffieus

Yes ---it looks like Romney as the winner in early states-----that usually means the nomination (e.g. Kerry in 2004).

Tommy Brice for Coach

I know it's a little off topic, but what do you guys think of Ron Paul? I know the polls show him as a long shot, but his fundraising has been amazing.

Do you think he has a shot as an independent or maybe even for the nomination?

Murffieus

Doesn't have a chance----he's a maverick republican-----mavericks don't get nominations----but may be a 3rd party candidate under the libitarian roof .

I think Murf is smitten with Obama

I think Obama has good leadership capabilites and would bring people together domestically----but I think he's naive on dealing with Islamo-Facism!

Hard to live up to GWB - who is is a master at stirring up Islamo-fascism

Again your short term thinking ("Bush stiring up islamo/facism")----who started the war? Was started by Iran in 1979 when they took our hostages. After that----attack after attack at our interests around the world (including Saddam taking Kuwait by force with eyes on Saudi Arabis)----finally the equivilant of Pearl Harbor (9/11)------finally an answer from the USA which decimates Al Quida around the world and especially in Iraq.

If you had your way, GWB should turn the other cheek or put his head in the sand and everything goes away-----right?

I'm pretty sure Jimmah Carter gets that nod

At least Obama tells the truth to the American people.  His polices are whacked, but he tells the truth about them.  Hillary just lies, plants people in the audience, lies some more, flips all over the place and then lies some more.  Her policies equally out of whack, but she's lying so much you can't tell.

Her position on the illegal drivers licenses over the last 6 weeks has been a gem to watch.  I cannot seriously believe people in this country are this insane to want this person to lead us, but hey....I look at our governor and think anything is possible.

Send me your address, I'm happy to buy you a few books Marc.  Actually I'll be up in the bay area next week for Turkey day, I'll swing by and drop them off.

save the paper.  I have too many books to read.  best recommendation is a Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Sorry, I'd rather not read Doris....not if she's going to continue to plagiarize books as her own.
