Good luck to the young man. I hope he is not surprised.

Buzz almost always does well with players who were first coached by someone else.

Its the HS recruits who will need luck.

A player transferring to or from Virginia Tech should be none of your concern, my friend.

Glad you're here to let people know where their concerns should be.

Word on the street is there was some Blacksburg "influencing" for this transfer from the Terps. Allen was always going to be a Hokie.

No more or less for any other person making a significant decision in their life. I wish everyone success but always for MU to be first. I just find wishing people ill a very negative way of thinking that has no positive outcome. For me it works.

sorry if this was already posted, I didn't see anything on this yet:

The former Maryland point guard told ESPN.com he loves new Virginia Tech coach Buzz Williams.

Former Maryland point guard Seth Allen told ESPN.com on Saturday that he intends to transfer to Virginia Tech.

Allen averaged 13.4 points and 29.7 minutes for Maryland as a sophomore this year. The Woodbridge native played in 20 games, starting 15, after missing the first 12 games of the season with a fractured left foot. He dished out 59 assists and committed 34 turnovers. He sank 49 3-pointers.

Allen will have to sit out next season under the NCAA's transfer rules. He will then have two seasons to play for new Hokies coach Buzz Williams.

"I love Buzz," Allen told ESPN.com on Saturday after a visit to Tech. "I believe he can make me the player I need to be successful."

Maryland announced on May 2 that Allen had decided to leave the school. Allen became the fourth Terrapin to decide to transfer after a 17-15 season.

Maryland was planning to shift Allen to off-guard next season so highly touted recruit Melo Trimble could be the point guard.

That influenced his decision to leave the Terrapins. The 6-foot-1 Allen told Baltimore radio station WNST on May 6 that playing off-guard would hinder his NBA dreams because of his height.

"At the next level, there is no such thing as a 6-foot [off-guard] so I'm going to have to play the [point]," he told WNST.

He told the radio station that the Maryland program "wasn't for me" and that leaving was "something that I had to do for me."

Maryland's impending move from the ACC to the Big Ten played "a little role" in his decision to leave the Terrapins, the Fredericksburg Christian graduate told the station.

Allen had 16 points and seven assists in Maryland's Feb. 1 win at Virginia Tech. He had 20 points in an overtime win over Virginia and also had 20 points at Clemson. He had 22 points and six 3-pointers against Syracuse. He had 32 points and seven 3-pointers in a Feb, 8 game against Florida State and had 18 points against the Seminoles in an ACC Tournament rematch.

Allen averaged 7.8 points and had 84 assists as a freshman, when he played in 36 games and started seven. He had 21 points in his ACC debut against the Hokies that year. He scored 16 points and made the winning free throw against Duke.

Devin Wilson started at point guard for the last-place Hokies this year, averaging 9.2 points and 34.9 minutes and making the ACC all-freshman team. Point guard Malik Mueller was academically ineligible this year but will be able to play for Tech as a redshirt freshman next season.

Williams has two scholarships left to pass out this spring.

Live and let live, post and let post.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I'm happy that my instincts immediately thought Georgia Tech.  They're the only Tech I recognize.
