Anyone have any favorites for tomorrow's Kentucky Derby?  I'm thankful Connecticut has many OTB locations as it make watching more interesting.

You can safely bet against Calvin this year.

I threw $2 on a boxed trifecta with Borel in '09 when he rode the 50-1 long shot Mine That Bird along the rail to a victory.  He came from so far back in the field to win that Tom Durkin wasn't sure who the horse was as he ran away from the field. The result was something I will never forget. As long as he's on a horse in the derby, I'll toss some action his way.

Sloppy track, but that's a nice ticket.

My horse was already scratched, now I'm struggling with who to key against the rest of the field.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Sorry you lost your Hoppertunity to win.

The woman at the window told me she had never seen a payout anywhere in the neighborhood of that. And she was every bit of 70 years old. The. OTB made me take a security escort to my car. It was really something else.

Thanks.  The first time I actually felt damn good about a Derby winner.

BTW - Anyone else ever use TwinSpires.com for wagering???  I haven't used any other ADW sites, but I'm pretty pleased with the interface... both on the iPad and PC, it's pretty solid.

ADW is why I really love the internet.  If you're still using OTBs, send me a PM with your email address, and I'll send you a referral link that's good for a $100 cash bonus to you (and - full disclosure - $50 to me) if you wager $500 in the first 30 days of opening your account.

I drive by an OTB location or Winners! as they're called in Connecticut on my drive home from work.  But I'll check TwinSpires.com out at home later.

I still rock the OTB or head to Arlington like today.

I've been thinking about it though...maybe for the Preakness.

I love 5Dimes, being able to parlay props there is fantastic. Bovada has no where near the options.

Win - Mine That Bird (50 -1)
Place - Pioneer of the Nile (6-1)
Show - Musket Man (19 -1)

$1.00 trifecta $20,750

Yeah, but get this: TwinSpires.com (along with other ADW sites) is..... wait for it.... LEGAL.

Or at least it is in the 30 or so states where it's licensed.

Had a big day at Arlington yesterday. Not a whole lot of closers finishing on top yesterday at Churchill.

Going to be interesting.

Starting to like Samraat. Can Cali Chrome break the California curse?

Benny B

Art Sherman after the race: "I went to Swaps' grave yesterday, and I said a little prayer."
"What was the prayer you said?"
"I prayed he was another Swaps."

Classic.

Bayern/Shared Belief/Tonalist, box 'em.

Maybe throw Toast of NY in there.

Dumb money is following Chrome who has been prepped poorly, if that horse wins then it's the best horse in world to break that training regime.

I'm supposed to go with my wife....pretty good chance of rain which hasn't happened here in a long time.  Wet track.

Half inch of rain ending late morning...you should go. Track will be fast just like today.

We'll see.  Not my thing really.  Been to a few of these over the years.  I like Santa Anita and it's right down the street from sister in law's so all good on that front, but the sport itself I don't have the expertise to enjoy it like I would like.  Beautiful animals, but I'll be damn if I can figure them out.

My son had a kid on his team and his father was a trainer over at Los Alamitos.  He would explain a few things....interesting as hell, but too much time investment for me.  Maybe we'll go.

It's fascinating (for the right mind). If you're a weirdo you can get pretty into the numbers/angles/combinations of inputs to look at... I fell in love with the sport at Santa Anita. Mid-80's and I hit a $84 ($2 bet) exacta on my first bet (gave the info to a guy and he bet for me.. then only gave me a $10 'tip'.. sheesh).

Usually hate betting on mucked up tracks, though... at least when it's not fully expected and I've planned for it.

Going to Churchhill Downs in a week! $$$$ (but rain is in the forecast in the Ville... also will be hitting PORCINI!!)
The portal is NOT closed.

Kind of liking Tonalist... Zivo has some decent numbers in recent races.  Candy Boy might be my longshot.
