Jerry Meyer and Mark Miller have predicted Matt Heldt to Marquette.I really like him.Uses both hands very well and can really run the floor.I think his upside is huge.

TedBaxter

Heldt had 26 points for the Milwaukee Spartans in a two point loss this morning in the Twin Cities in the NY2LA event.

Tidbits from Rivals.com:

Tom Crean pulled a small surprise yesterday by showing up in Minneapolis for the NY2LA event held there over the weekend. He was spotted watching 6-foot-10 Matt Heldt (Neenah, Wisconsin), a 2015 prospect with MAC and Horizon offers and growing interest from Xavier and several Big Ten programs. He also was spotted checking out 6-foot-7 forward Evan Boudreaux, the No. 130 overall player in the Class of 2015. Boudreaux (Lake Forest, IL) holds offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Penn State and other big programs.

In the second set of games he joined a huge group of coaches trying to catch the Diamond Stone (No. 3 overall in 2015) versus Josh Jackson (No. 1 overall in 2016) battle along with an adjacent court game featuring intriguing skinny but skilled big man Chance Comanche and his Earl Watson Elite team against Team Superstars. The 6-foot-10 Stone got the better of Jackson in perhaps the night's best performance, scoring 36 points and pulling 16 rebounds in a 74-70 victory.

Crean was there watching the Milwaukee Spartans / Team NLP game, as was Wojo. (Heldt = Spartans, Boudreaux = NLP.) One game.

Matt's mom was in the stands taking down his stats. Got up at halftime to tell the scorekeepers they had the score wrong. Another Tim M??

He's really moving well.. has gotten a bit bigger over the last year, but has improved his movement.. getting down the court and getting off his feet as well. Certainly one to keep monitoring.

Is he basically a hedge in the likely event that Stone heads to a blue blood?

I think you can never have too many 6"10 kids who can shoot. I wouldn't mind this pickup one bit.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

This is great news. Let's hope it pans out into a signing.

Agreed. Would be a nice get.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Why would they be mutually exclusive? Get 'em both!

I have to admit, I read Mark Miller's tweet differently.

"Couple of scholarship offer predictions for the next few days -- Brevin Pritzl (Wisconsin) Matt Heldt (Marquette)."

I took that to mean only that Marquette would give an offer, not that he was committing.

6'10 skilled big man who can shoot, he's no hedge, fallback whatever term you want to use- he's a legit D-1 prospect.  Would love to see MU and Woj reel him in the fold.

This!  Particularly with Stone's time in college likely being short.

I've got to think that Luke Fischer being here helps in getting Matt.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

24/7 Sports seems to indicate that Marquette has wrestled him away from Wisconsin-Green Bay.  To me that's mostly a sign that his stock has risen.

Sure, Mark Miller is making this prediction but, more importantly, does Patrick Reed approve?

That's good news. Miller is usually right on the money.

Heldt seems to be under the radar and still highly regarded by some sources (ESPN 4 star).
