Message boards and internet reports can work against Wojo's efforts to bring the current players together and recruit prospects.  Over the years it has actually cost MU recruits.

Agreed.    Words have consequences.     And those consequences can hurt MU basketball.   BTW, who did it cost us this time?    So we know who to blame.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Some of us OLD guys look at this as harmless fun.  The kids (HS, College and up to around 30 yo maybe) use this as a serious way of communicating.

It's gospel to them.

Things change.

When proselytizing it is better to preach in a dive bar than the sacristy. Get thee from this nunnery and sow thy seed in more fertile and appropriate ground. Scout awaits your fevered word, sir!

Then let's just spell out the new rules. This needs to be a 100% rah-rah, wave-your-pom-poms board.

The expression of opinions—especially negative ones—will not be tolerated.

If this board is the sacristy, then I call the role of the unconsecrated-wine-stealing altar boy.

Bull. Name a program that has nothing but glowing commentary on their boards? Name a recruit who cited "comments" on the message boards that made him decide to "not commit". If comments on theses boards had any effect, half the current players would not be coming back.

Yup, that would be my argument.  If MU loses recruits because of message board banter, than those same recruits aren't going to see anything differently on any other message board.  Otherwise the argument is that recruits are really sensitive to Marquette posters, but don't care what the posters on other boards say about them.  That doesn't pass the smell test.

If it is so true, there should be like so many examples.  Feel free to provide some

Why, oh god why, do you hit the space bar 18 freaking times after a period?

So just like every major college basketball fanbase?

I have to agree with Tulsa.    and we all know it.         And we all know...."showing some sort of prove" is not possible.

Recruits choose a school because of the support from the coach and school, NOT from the support of potential fans. Boards have no effect because they are 99% opinion driven from who knows who.

Tums Festival

It's all common sense. I could see where spreading false or negative rumors about a current player or recruit may have consequences. The problem is some posters love to spread that gossip, not matter how far-fetched or silly it is.

LOL.   That's awesome

Sounds more like a convenient excuse a kid would give.  "I didn't go to MU because someone said something mean on a message board, so I'm going to attend Wisconsin where they talk about tattoos, and players moms instead on their message boards".

I believe Carson Desrosiers was one.  Parents didn't like the comments on the message boards from what I can recall.
