Who do you think will be Marquette's most improved player and make the biggest jump next year? It could stem from more playing time, better system fit, etc...Mine is JJJ and I think he becomes really good next year. An offseason in the weight room and more confidence will go a long way in my opinion. Steve Taylor would be my 2nd pick, he should receive a lot of playing time and hopefully really steps up for us!

JJJ. He's finally going to get the minutes he needs i hope.

tower912

Probably JJJ.   MU NEEDS it to be Juan or Steve.

I think Juan is good for 5 points, 5 boards and 1.5 steals in 12-15 minutes now that Brent is out of his head.

Look at who is returning up front.    12-15 minutes?   He had better be able to give 25 solid minutes per game.

Is JJJ the easy option here? I mean he barely played, so of course he has the best chance to be most improved.

I voted for Juan.

I voted for JJJ. He's got the talent, he just couldn't or wouldn't give Buzz what he needed in practice. A new system could be exactly what he needs.

I don't think JJJ is the easy option. I think Taylor would be the easy option, as he will have virtually no competition for playing time. I think you could make a case for a lot of players to be most improved.

Does this mean that Mayo isn't coming back and Hill isn't coming at all?

Mayo and JJJ can play together....would love to see lineup of:

Dawson/Du Wilson
Mayo
JJJ
Burton
Steve Taylor/Luke Fischer

I agree with this 100%

tower912

Until Fischer is eligible, that will be a ridiculously small line up, the shortest since 09-10.

Well...Davante and Otule graduated....we are going to have to be "small" no matter how you slice it until Fischer is eligible....size is overrated...as we just saw with UCONN - get GREAT guard play, and you can go a long way.  Between Todd, JJJ, Dawson/DuWilson - there should be plenty of talent at guard....and then throw in a monster like Deonte...team could be quite good next year.  I'd be SHOCKED if the team doesn't make NCAA tourney next year..

I admire your optimism.    And there is no doubt that there is an abundance of athleticism.   CoWojo may have to go with some sort of Villanova look.    But if neither Pierce nor Shayok come, or a one-year big (Horford?), this team is going to be so small.    Besides Fischer, the next 3 biggest players are STjr, Juan, and Cohen.    I love Deonte, but at the end of the day he is 6'4.    So, before I agree with your prediction of the tourney next year, let us wait and see how much of the recruit class can be salvaged and what CoWojo can come up with for replacements.     Because no matter how talented, a line up that goes 6'2, 6'3, 6'4, 6'4, 6'7 (until Fischer is eligible) does not scream tourney team at me.   This coming season is when McKay's decision to not take the redshirt and depart instead is really going to hurt.

I was shocked that the team didn't make the NCAA tourney THIS year.

That was really a hard poll. I finally decided on JJJ.

Duane Wilson is the answer.

I didn't put Duane or Fischer on the list because they didn't play for us last year in game situations.

I know that, but he said JJJ was going to start at the 2. Given that Mayo can pretty much only play the 2, I was wondering if he planned to sit Mayo arguably our best player next season.
