MU4EVER21

Ran into Bill Cords at the store today. We chatted for a bit, really nice man. Talked about the situation we are in, new coach, president, his discussions with Coach K, etc. Was very open and courteous. Was nice to speak with him.

While I'm skeptical of this thread, I will listen to what you have to say.  What beans did Cords spill?  What questions did you ask him?

Told me how he talked with Coach K for a good chunk of time about Steve. USA Basketball involvement. That we are going to be in a good position with Steve, academics and athletics. He was pretty open, was nice to chat.

Did he say anything about recruiting?

MU4EVER21

I didnt bring that up. His wife and him were shopping at the Mayfair town collection. He asked me when I graduated, etc. My daughter and his grandaughter have the same name. His wife was nice. He talked about where he is living and how he came back from Montana, how his wife likes it here. Told me how impressive it was to coach lebron james in USA games. He got into how much Coach K and him talked about Steve. Talked about the new president and how nice and supportive he is.

We joked about playing Arizona State again since my wife is from Phoenix.

Told him that we need to stay on par with UW as they are pretty successful, and he agreed.

Umm you couldve kept that convo to yourself. Whats your point?

MU4EVER21

He seemed pretty confident and happy. I joked that he should keep at the job since he gets to watch sports all day. He didnt seem stressed out or anything. I noticed a hearing aide in his ear since I had to speak up a few times, but overall didnt notice any tension or worry.

Whatever happened to bring us here, I feel like Marquette is in a pretty good place right now. He deserves to be a little at ease for the moment!

Is recruiting or team building more important? Buzz worked hard at recruiting, but I do not think he was a good team builder. I think he out recruited Bo Ryan every year he was at MU, but Ryan is a team builder and you can see the results. My point is until you see how the players actually turn out, it is hard to judge what was a good recruiting class and what was an overrated class.

Not sure I would slam Bart's team building skills. When he is rational he is superb. When he is irrational he is bizarre. The issue is what Brazzer are you going to get from day to day.
