Definitely, one of the all time greatest coaching performances in the NCAA tourney.  Donovan outcoached with the smaller lineup.  Very impressive run for UCONN.  Brad Stevens' Butler teams are my other choices as well.

No - U Conn is his dream job.

GooooMarquette

Ollie totally schooled Donovan.  Amazing game for UConn.

Actually, it's more about the three Calhoun recruits:  Napier, Daniels and Boatwright.  These guys are good.

He wanted us but 5 high schools in four year was a red flag.

Montrele Clark still has eligibility.  Should Wojo sign him?

Coaching? Bazz is carrying this team.

Even though I don't think he's as good as he used to be when he was doing columns/mailbags only, the latest Bill Simmons mailbag had one reader suggest that Kevin Ollie could go to the Thunder here in a couple years. Could DEFINITELY see that, as it sounds like KD has a great deal of admiration towards Ollie and what he meant to him his first couple years in the league.

Ollie did a great job but I think Calhoun had alot of input in that game and the adjustments.  Calhoun is basically still the coach behind the curtain.

I didn't see Calhoun on the bench at all.  How does he communicate strategy to Ollie?  Does he use an earpiece like the secret service?

I respectfully disagree.

Iphone, texting.  21st century, there's alot of technology.  Plus it's not hard to walk down to the U-Con lockerroom at half either.  Though, most of the strategy, scenarios and adjustments would have happened in the pre game prep during the week.  I mean really, if you were Ollie why wouldn't use a resource like Calhoun in developing a game plan.  It would be pretty silly not to.  Even the announcers said that Calhoun probably had a big part in Ollie's adjustments and game plan.

You have to remember Calhoun had to step down when he did because of the APR and probation issues.  It wasn't because he wanted to retire or stop coaching.  That was the word on the street.

That is a bogus conspiracy theory.  Ollie is good friends with Calhoun and he leans on him to get advice, not coach a game.  It's called being a mentor and that's what a mentor does.  It happens all the time.  It's called coachspeak.  You can't coach a game from the stands. Plus, I bet Calhoun barely knows even how to text.

What you say is absolutely absurd.  Ollie outcoached Donovan and Izzo.  Hopefully, he takes out the greaseball Calipari on Monday.  Guess what?  I'm sure he'll ask Calhoun's opinions on the game plan as well.  Why wouldn't you use a source like that to critique?

So you are basically agreeing with me.  Why get so defensive over Kevin Ollie anyway.

I'm not agreeing with you.  You're saying Calhoun is coaching the game.  I'm saying that Ollie speaks to him after games whenever they get together or talk on the phone.  There's a difference.

Look at what I originally said.  I gave credit to Ollie but said that Calhoun had a big part in the game plan and adjustments.  Even the announcers said that during the game.

It's pretty obvious.  Maybe you are a huge UConn and Kevin Ollie fan, i dunno but it seems like you are offended by what I said which seems strange considering this is a Marquette board.

You said Calhoun is the coach behind the curtain.  That's not true at all.  He's a mentor and that's it.  A coach is someone on the sidelines calling plays, making substitutions, managing the game.  It's impossible to coach from the stands as you indicate. Ollie made the move to go with 3 guards on his own.  That wasn't Calhoun.  To take away anything from Ollie is ridiculous.  You act as if he's incompetent and not running the team at all.
