"Shaka teased us"

To what end?  Why did he bother?

He didn't tease us. The guy accepted on that Monday. Both Goose and I noted here that his wife had issues with leaving her stuff behind.

If Smart isn't savvy enough to say to Cords, "let me run this by CinC House before I say yes" then he's not the right man to run our beloved basketball program.

I am thrilled with Wojo and expect we will all be very pleased with his hire.

No truth to this whatsoever.

do big east schools need to be private and/or jesuit?

I am from the Commonwealth of Virginia and attended a fine prep school in the NCR. Without checking the records I can say with complete authority that not one of my fellow classmates at Georgetown Prep considered matriculating at VCU. It is not that well regarded as a university. Even within the Commonwealth it is no better than the 6th best public university.

The point is - if the BE has a particular curriculum vitae in mind for membership then VCU's résumé  is significantly different than that of the current members. I am confident we won't see VCU in the Big East if CV is indeed a factor.

Accepting a job and agreeing to terms are two very different things.

It's kinda true.

Shaka said yes, but when she tried to alter the offer after it was initially accepted by Shaka, MU backed out.

I give Cords credit.

Tom,

Without a doubt. Consider me pleased.

In an offline conversation the Puerto Rican described Wojo as clean cut. After what we have seen over the past 15 years I find that approach to life refreshing.

There was a gorgeous girl back in high school who didn't go out with me.
This thread is making me realize it was her dad that kept her from going out with me.  Of course!

Still, I've had a good run so far with my wife, so that bodes well for Wojo.

I politely disagree with you on the Shaka acceptance. I cannot say with any certainty why he is not here, but can say I trust the sources that said he accepted the job on that Monday. Really does not matter at this point and time to move on.

But this is so much more fun!

A job is not accepted until the ink dries. No one from Marquette physically met with Shaka until the Friday after #donedeal. Unless Shaka faxed in his acceptance (he didn't) than accepting the job never happened.

What many may have misinterpreted as "accepting the job" is that SS may have agreed to terms. He may have said that the offer Marquette put forth was good enough to convince him to come to Marquette. That doesn't mean he was going to take the job.

It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is.

I'm not sure if the wife objected because she is his wife...or because she is an attorney and his de facto agent.

Maybe she stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before she vetoed the deal.

Especially when the last "term" is dictating who your boss will be. It was over when Cords said he would be the interim AD for the next year. In the end, I'm glad MU said no. We moved up the prez hire announcement, we gave him everything he wanted including insane $$, he agreed in principal but we wouldn't let him hand-pick the AD. Oops I said it.

Wow - if that's how it played out, I'm glad MU showed him door #3.

I'm more than happy with what I've seen from Wojo so far.

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Thought ... Why didn't he discuss it with her before he started with the process?

because that is the way the prima donna rolls. Milk the pursuer and then shut it down. man has huge ego.
