For those that like to follow big east games.  They'll be on ESPNU, um right now (7pm EST) in the CvC vs Morgan State.

I only saw the second half, but it looked like about the same UConn team as last year (well, it is - they only added 1 new player).  I haven't looked up the stats, but they allowed too many offensive rebounds despite having a size advantage, and were disorganized on offense.  They won it of FT shooting - I think it was Morgan St. goal to foul them  a lot, but they converted.  Morgan St. was also living and dying on their 3pt shooting (as you might expect).

Now...as for the UK / Gardner-Webb game (38-27 GW at half)...If Billy G doesn't pull this one off, the UK fan base might start wondering if they made the right decision.  Saw a great quote today...

Quote"That's how it is when you have a change," [Kentucky senior guard Ramel] Bradley said. "People think the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

" Now we have the new grass, and everybody's excited and wants to see if it's greener."

I did not see the game, but it is a very good thing that they won. With the 18 game conference schedule there are less non-conference games to determine the conference's strength. Therefore each loss hurts the conference more. These early games can be the difference between big east getting 8, 9, or 10 bids. When MU lossed at home to North Dakota St. last year it did not cost MU a bid, but could have been the difference in Syracuse being left out. Every big East non-conference game is extremely important to any conference team hoping to make NCAA tournament.

Agreed.   While I sometimes find it difficult to root for UL or Cincy, it's good when all BE teams win OOC.  ;)

and Gardner-Webb beats #22 UK 84-68 (wow!).  To tie this thread together, Uconn plays GW on 11/20 on Full Court.  Stay tuned....

You think G-Webb can pull off another upset?

Rocky, you hit the nail on the head.  UConn looked just like last year.  This team is better suited to be a track team than a basketball team.  Tremendous athletes but not very good basketball players.  They were a little lucky to pull this one out, because they're not going to win a lot of games at the free throw line.  They'll beat somebody good once in a while if they get on a roll and force turnovers, but don't appear to be a threat to be upper echelon Big East or do any real postseason damage.
