What will be the biggest difference on the court under Wojo?

I'm really looking forward to watching a coach who knows how to substitute players and allows them time to get into the rhythm of the game. Plus we'll run the Duke offense so we should score more efficiently in the half court.

Hopefully an effective straightforward defense that doesn't require more than a year for a player to master.  Besides that, I hope the biggest difference is more reasonable player rotations.

I liked Buzz as a coach, and find it very hard to believe he tanked last season, but I will agree that he never quite figured out what to do with last year's roster.

I found yelling at guys when they're on d to be pretty effective.    Keeps them focused and mindful imo.  Liked that intensity.

I feel like there will be at least a little less turnover and he will better relate to the players being a young coach that has actually played at a high level before.

I think this will only help. Also, feel as though we will get more transparent comments from Wojo and less ego driven jibberish.

I liked Buzz and appreciate that he continued to steer Marquette in the right direction but his time has passed and I'm glad that he is gone. This whole new era has a very fresh, enthusiastic, and exciting feel to it. I can't wait for Wojo to hire assistants, hit the recruiting trail hard/see what transpires, and get next season started. It's early but I also think our players are going to love playing for him just based off of what past players have said about him.

Im hoping we will take more and make more threes. Buzz's teams seemed to get worse every year at shooting threes. It seemed to me like some guys almost had the yips, like Juan and derrick, where they would pass up wide open shots because the ball hadn't touched the paint yet, and always seemed to be nervous that the shot hadnt been "earned" enough or whatever. I hope doing that better will free up the middle and relieve some of the issues we saw this year, where we had exceptional offensive players down low but mediocre overall offense.

How much of that was scheme, and how much of it was personnel? Honest question, as I didn't study Duke all that much.

Only one of Buzz's teams at MU was an excellent defensive team, and that was 11-12. A lot of that had to do with creating turnovers. Personally, I wasn't a fan of his defense. It was so focused on denying a paint touch, that it allowed far too many open perimeter looks.

Duke plays an aggressive man to man. They were consistently beat off the dribble (at multiple positions) in the games I watched. Maybe those McDonald's AAs weren't talented enough to guard the ball, but I doubt it.

I really did not watch Duke play this year, so you could be right on that, Lenny.

But over the years, when Duke was really at their best, they usually played great on ball defense by almost all their guys. I think that has been a hallmark for them.

Freshman will be given a fair chance to contribute. Our starting line up will make sense (Not starting Juan Anderson, Erik Williams, Reggie Smith, Joe Fulce, etc. for random games throughout the season). Players will shoot with confidence. We will probably flop a lot more.

this was also noted in the olympic games under coach k. and the players complained to the point that they finally changed it.  i'll be interested to see what wojo does...he obviously stated he wanted to play pressure defense, but i hate how easily duke gets beat off the ball.  that said, it leads to more possessions, turnovers, etc.

impossible to argue with coach k's success, but they've always had troubles with teams that could spread them out and attack the rim.

3 Point shooting.  When we got embarrassed in games (Syr - Elite 8, NC S-16 several years ago) it was when teams shut down the lane and dared us to shoot from the outside we often completely collapsed.  In current college BB nearly everybody on the team needs to be able to make an unchallenged 3.  I hope that our guys become better shooters as they get to be upper classmen and I would hope that we recruit 1 or 2 pure shooters
