We all remember that Wesley Matthews was underutilized for three years in the Tom Crean regime.  When TC left for Indiana, Wes flourished for his senior year under Buzz.

Scoop has discussed ad nauseum this year Buzz's peculiarities in his rotations and whether some players were not being properly utilized.  Which of the (hopefully) returning upper-classmen do you think will benefit most from the change to Coach Wojo?

Note: I opted not to include the freshmen, because for varying reasons, one season may not have been enough time to see how they would work themselves into Buzz's system.  I fully recognize that one of them (JJJ?) could potentially see the biggest change in use and performance from this year to the next.  But, my focus for this question is primarily on the upperclassmen, whom we saw operate under Buzz for at least two years time.

I think it's gotta be Steve.

Todd obviously should have a great season but that was kinda expected no matter who the coach was with the way he finished the season once given the reins to kind of be the man.

Benny B

ST Jr. but not for reasons of past under-utilization... for reasons of no longer having 85% of his playing time blocked by Jamil and Davante.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Taylor's going to be the most improved, but mostly because of improved health and available PT.  Will never be able to figure out if any "bump" was caused by those factors or the new coach.

Yeah, I realize this isn't a perfect comparison to the Crean-Buzz transition, as that year we only graduated Ooze and Fitz who only accounted for 12% of our points in the 07-08 year.

Obviously, next year's team was going to look significantly different regardless of who is coaching.  And, front court is definitely where the bulk (pun intended) of minutes and production will open up.

Still, while STJ seems to be the obvious answer, I'm very intrigued to see what Mayo does under new tutelage.  Could Wojo be the spark he needed to put all that potential together consistently?  Could be great if so...

Mayo will not be here next year

I have heard the exact opposite of this rumor.

If you all are wondering why Todd didn't play much, it's because he and Buzz didn't get along. Not because he was dirty. Look for the shackles to be taken off next season.

Part of Brent's lingering legacy
So you'll throw a kid out of the program because he's part of Buzz's "lingering legacy." This makes no sense whatsoever. And if I'm not mistaken, Todd and Buzz weren't the best-est of friends. I fully expect Todd to be here next year. He seems to finally have his head on straight, and he's developed into a very good player. I'm really excited to see him in November.

I'm open to being convinced otherwise, so shoot.

I'm sure Dylan Flood is a nice kid. Discussing his future as it relates to the basketball program is a waste of time.

He's not he's a d-bag.  Frozena is nice I've had a beers with Frozena at Red Rock.  Flood is cocky and just not a friendly person.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!
