I haven't seen a bigger group of winers.  Seriously... our last hire was Buzz Williams.  It worked out but the dude came from NO WHERE.  Now, we have a coach who played and coached for almost TWENTY YEARS under one of the most respected coaches in basketball and arguably the best college coaches ever.  And you guys are complaining???  Seriously?  He grew within his role at Duke for FIFTEEN years.  You don't think there were plenty of other smart non-NBA talent that have rolled through Duke trying to get his job?  All this tells me is the guy is smart and hard working enough to keep his job.

And some say "It isn't hard to recruit for Duke".  VERY TRUE.  The answer is most likely "Yes." to "Hi, I'm ____ from Duke's Men's Basketball Program.  Can I talk to ____?"  And the guy has had an open door to pretty much every basketball program in the country for FIFTEEN YEARS.  Don't you think he has made some buddies here and there?  I think he will help the recruiting for MU.  I understand that MU is not Duke but he will at least be able to get some face time.  If he can build on our success, the open doors he has will continue to be open.

So, everyone, GROW UP.  Learn from the Buzz hire and support your new coach.  I love my MU Basketball and he is the new coach and I am in his camp (no matter how douchy floor slaps are) until he gives me a reason that this was a bad hire.

For the most part I agree with you. My only worry is he departs in a short 5-6 years. And yes, why worry about that now, but it's the first and only concern I have as he is announced.

I think most people are disappointed in this hire because we were told MU would make an "impact hire". This is the hire I kind of expected as soon as Williams left. By when rumors are about guys like Howland and Smart, you set expectations high. You're expecting a ribeye but you get a t-bone and you tend to forget that, regardless, you are eating a steak

Really?  Odd that Buzz never mentioned this
