Not sure where I stand on this.  But, if he gets the Duke job in 5 years, I will be happy.  Because that will tell us that he succeeded at MU.

If this isn't a joke...two things:

1) the hire itself is a unnatural carnal knowledgeing joke. Awful. Words can't describe how this sucks.

2) April 1 is a terrible, terrible day. Period.

Niv conclusive statements are for the weak-minded. Please explain through your omniscience why this is an "awful" hire.

From Wikipedia...so you know it's true.

Disagree. Relax. We'll be fine.

Wojo wasn't my first or even 3rd pick. But it isn't a bad hire. And he's our coach now. Time to support him, or go back to Israel Niv  ;)

MisterJaylenBrownMU

So, just to summarize:  Wojo is a terrible coach and Marquette shouldn't have hired him, and also he's going to leave to be the head coach at Duke in a few years.

Flawless logic.

I, for one, am all in favor of giving a top assistant a shot like this.  He's an outstanding recruiter, he works hard, and by all accounts he's likeable and loyal.  Welcome to Marquette, Wojo!

I feel like this clip is perfect foreshadowing for MUBB:

Wonder if Duke will be able to keep all their recruits.

Word on the street is Jabari is transferring with Wojo

Hopefully we learned from the Brent years and we don't give him ridiculous raises every year he does something marginally good.  When we hired him he was a nobody and should have been cheap.  How was he making nearly $3M only 6 years later without even making a Final Four?

Which coaching candidate wouldn't leave Marquette for the Duke job?

You have it backwards.  Duke most likely wouldn't be looking to hire Marquette's coach, unless Marquette's coach happened to be the most likely successor to Coach K.

hoyasincebirth

Wish this was an april fools joke. Not the impact hire the BE needed.

Also, if it wasn't going to be someone amazing then this is as good as anyone else.  I look forward to seeing what he can do and hope for the best.

AWESOME POST - shows the complete stupidity of some of the posters on this board:

Wojo is a terrible coach
Marquette shouldn't have hired him
And he's going to leave to be the head coach at Duke in a few years.

Not excited at all about this hire. Hated Wojo the player, not sure how he helps at Duke coaching wise. This just stinks.

I don't think you are trolling, but don't really care for condescension from a Georgetown fan at the moment.

Do you think Wojo has the capability of getting back some of our recruits?
We will soon find out. After all, isn't that why he was hired, for his recruiting ability? It sure as hell wasn't for his coaching ability/experience. Getting our gig just gives him the experience he will need to compete with Dawkins and Amaker when K steps down.

This is just a huge yawning disappointment and demonstrates two things:
1. Cords and Rivers cache hugely overrated. Not an impact hire.
2. MU is officially not that attractive--hate to say it.

We will find out quickly his recruiting ability: Can he save JJJ, Hill and the others. That can be the only explanation. He has the advantage as they have signed or are there already. Can he land Stone? Not holding my breath.

This smacks of Roy Williams, long time asst. leaving UNC for Kansas and then returning to UNC. Admittedly, MU is not Kansas.

The jury will not be out long on this.

BTW, wasn't Wojo a PG? See what he does with Derrick.

Huge yawner for MU fans.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

ChitownSpaceForRent

While I do think he is a good coach I can confirm that most likely when Coach K retires that Wojo will most likely be his successor. I talked to Chris Collins this past year and asked him about if hes staying at Northwestern for the long haul. He told me that Wojo was always Coach K's guy. Things can change, im very aware of that and im usually a pretty positive person on this board. While he will be a good coach for MU, it will most likely only be temporary. With that being said, ill support him regardless.

Abode4life

I don't like the hire.  He isn't as committed as Buzz is to VT.  His twitter account still says Duke assistant.
