 Jeff Goodman ‏@GoodmanESPN 3m

Marquette has hired Duke associate head coach Steve Wojciechowski, sources told ESPN.

I'm fine with this hire. Have heard good things about his recruiting abilities (I know some
Will say but he recruited at Duke) and how smart he is. I think he has something to prove and I believe he will be given the resources to succeed.

I will back Wojo 100%. Now let's see all the haters of this hire wine and complain until they are blue in the face.

Justifiably so, in my opinion.  This is not the impact hire we needed.

Do we really think he stays if he does well and gets an offer from Duke when Coach K retires?  Stepping stone all over again.  Except next time, there won't be a Final Four coach saying he wants the job.

Who would have been impact? Howland? - MU not interested. Shaka? - eventually said no. Marshall? - MU not interested.

Sharpie

Is this a ringing endorsement from Doc Rivers? Very well could be.

That's fair ... but what coach wouldn't leave Marquette for Duke? You think Shaka wouldn't have left MU for a blueblood? Bennett? Archie?

If he gets an offer from Duke, that means we will have been to at least 1 final four in that time period and had sustained success. I will take that.

"A source told Paint Touches that Wojociechowski completely blew away the Marquette brass in his interview Monday morning, and that his preparedness and enthusiasm pushed him ahead of Tennessee head coach Cuonzo Martin, who reportedly had interest in the job and also was contacted by Marquette — late Monday night CBS's Gary Parrish reported Martin had taken himself out of consideration for the position."

Makes sense.

Agreed. I'm on board. I think he will be one of the hottest young coaches in the nation within a few years.  Not the "impact" hire everyone dreamed of, but definitely a smart hire. Now, can he keep the incoming recruits? That will be his first big test...

Can someone explain how to pronounce his name?

So many people are being ridiculous. Apparently Howland would've been the only guy that anyone wanted who was actually a realistic target after Shaka. Wojo will be a good coach.

In my opinion, MU passing on Howland could go down as one of the poorest decisions we have made since Bob Dukiet.

K is retiring in 5 years.. what's to say MU isn't signing him to a 7-year contract with a buyout of $1,000,000 that increases to $50,000,000 if it's Duke?

Is Duke going to stopgap for two years just to get Wojo back... unlikely.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Groin_pull

Well, he's Polish. That scores big points in Milwaukee.

DegenerateDish

If Wojo eventually goes to Duke, that means he will have to have been successful at MU.

Guy is well spoken, young, going to bring a lot of energy. He's our coach, time to welcome him and give him the benefit of the doubt.
