Sponge Ruiner!

He has plenty of valuable head coaching experience. He knows Chicago recruiting better than anyone. He's obviously committed and won't see Marquette as a stepping stone job. With all of MU's resources, he could really build an annual contender.

Why has no one else thought of this? The beauty lies in the simplicity.

April Fool's isn't for another five hours.

NO!

Ask the DePaul folks...

I think he's best as a vet coach passing on his knowledge than one that motivates, recruits, etc.

I agree with the No, but Jerry somehow does a really good job relating to the players from what I understand.  Also is supposed to be good with the bigs.

TheBurrEffect

He was totally a solid coach at depaul, saw alot of success. Oh wait...

Galway Eagle

I can think of 59 positives and 80 negatives from Depaul
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!

When you aspire to a Chevy Cruze, you're not going to complain when they only offer you a Porsche

Shack

I don't think Marquette could afford the PR nightmare of having a head coach who wears a colostomy bag on national tv.

No.  Wainwright would be the end of Marquette and cripple the Big East.

Maybe we are only looking for ways to save money on sports. If so why look further. May not win but what a deal!

Unless you have met him, please do not ever criticize JW.  Perhaps one if the most intelligent beings I have ever met.  He as a passion for kids and just perhaps the glue that held these kids together under Buzz.

WarhawkWarrior

Maybe not our next coach but there is a reason he is still there keeping the wheels on the bus during this tough period.

Ahoya06

I actually and genuinely hope he stays on in some capacity going forward.

NickelDimer

Hahahaha I get it!!!! Wait no, no I don't

We are probably waiting for Oliver Purnells buy out to be cut in half first.

Warrior of Law

Seriously the last person involved in MU basketball that I would ever say anything negative about.  A true class act, but not the next permanent coach at MU.

Jerry is a good of guy as any. Not head coach material anymore just because of his age but still a guy you want on your staff and pretty good at player development.

GB Warrior

Maybe they hope that we just forget about the coaching search and Jerry just kind of assumes the coaching position.

Hopefully the new coach will find a space for him.  Especially next year, good to have someone with first hand knowledge of what happened this year.
