Raised Catholic.  No longer Catholic...started his own church when he played/coached in New Zealand.  Has two sisters, no brothers.  His uncle Jack lives in Point, his cousin is Nick who was on Crean's staff.

I've said this before and been admonished...I know TB.  He isn't coming.  UW is his dream job whether he ever gets it or not.  I'm an MU fan.  Would love to see it for real.  But not in my lifetime.

Sorry, meant to say his uncle lives in Point.

Didn't know that thing about starting his own church. Interesting.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I'm intrigued by the fact that fairly credible posters are saying he reached out.  Perhaps his parents advanced age is pushing him closer to home.  I still think it's a stretch but these folks seem to know quite a bit.

I hate a world where Buzz spurns MU for VA Tech and UW/Dayton roll into the Elite 8.  Last year seems so long ago......

We made Howland wait while Smart jerked us around...and now we're seriously thinking about making him wait while we go after Martin or Bennett?  And given the past few days, can anyone doubt that leaks would happen if we went after one or both of these guys?

Jeez, let's just tell the world Howland's out tenth choice and finally make him an offer in June....

Waitin' on UVAInsider to chime in.

If he's still available in June, then something is seriously out of whack.

If we are waiting on the NCAA tournament, what about Tony Bennett as the next coach?  Should we be rooting for Virginia to lose?

Not leaving. UVA is a much better school academically. Has brand new facilities. Better conference. The list goes on...

He's Catholic.
His brother lives in Stevens Point.
Sister lives in DeKalb.
Dad is nearby.
Family has Packer season tickets.
MU will compete with anyone on salary.

1) I'm pretty sure you don't know why Buzz left.
2) Tony's ties to UW began with his father and ended with Bo.  Why does everyone keep painting him cardinal and white?!?

Why on earth does it even matter that he is Catholic? He's a Bball coach and must NCAA Bball players are not Catholic.

Well Rock not sure if you knew this but Marquette is a Catholic university and so when you hire leaders within an organization it helps when they have some of the same values.  Especially when those values are at the core of the culture of the organization you are leading.

If there is anyway possible we can get Bennett, he is my #1 choice like he was when we hired Buzz.  Wanna see some Marquette fans freak out about a style of bball?  Hahaha.  Go MSU! Help my bracket and give us a shot at the hometown kid!

Buzz isn't catholic.

Buzz isn't catholic.

I think he means that it's an added bonus that he's Catholic.  Not that it's a prerequisite or anything.

No kidding. People need to put down the kool aid. UVA is an iconic institution. He leaves under two scenarios, he gets fired or he is intrigued by Wisconsin when Bo retires.

Despite the complete embarrassment that has been the media and Marquette basketball forums since Monday morning, very few people have learned to respect the process.

But hey, let's continue to wildly stab at the biggest names out there.  I'm thinking Izzo wants out of MSU with all of the rumors about him going to the Pistons.  But what college coaches have success going to the NBA?  He really just wants to be at MU.

i think coaches like bennett, dixon, buzz, etc. are going to have a hard time staying relevant in the ACC.  it was one thing when duke or unc would have a down year allowing someone else to shine.  going to be really hard to shine with cuse and louisville also in the league.

the UW donors i know don't feel that dick left UW a happy man.  TB might enjoy moving back home and trying to stick it to UW once a year.

Yeah, he also might enjoy staying at UVA and winning ACC titles. He also might enjoy going back to UW and going beyond his father's accomplishments. He might also enjoy coaching somewhere else. Who effing knows?

I'm with the artist formerly known as Wade's World... these threads are getting ridiculous.

I concur.  A very pathetic analysis .......

I think.... blah blah blah.... well, Tony Bennett might come to MU duh dudh duh, his daddy was mad, dudh duh.

Tony Bennett was offered the job before Buzz was - he turned it down.  Enough of the Tony Bennett speculation.  It just makes you look pathetic.

Mutaman

Forget Tony Bennett or even Izzo. Let's reach out to Phil Jackson. I hear he wants to get back into coaching.

I seriously almost started a thread titled "Phil Jackson". We are close to reaching that level of lunacy.

Lmao.  It is this type of thinking that would put us in the stone age of basketball again.  You hire the best guy for the job, his religion does NOT matter.

You're intrigued.  I'm confused.  Two posts earlier (and your last post prior to this one) made it seem like you're TB's bestie and there's no f-ing way TB is coming to MU.  You see a possibility that quickly?
