Tom Crean Show Notes

I only heard the last 15 minutes but here's some notes from what I heard:

• Would have played Hazel more but Grand Valley State lingered in the back of Crean's mind. Hazel still a raw talent.
• Christopherson needs to shoot the ball.  A mix of both Travis and Drake Diener.
• Acker the most nervous one to get out there and get going.  Took some extra shots after shootaround to rid himself of nervous energy.
• Blackledge showed amazing flashes before MU like the dunk last night but needs to be more consistant.
• Doc Rivers father passed away.  Raymonds told Crean after game last night.  Memoral Saturday at 10 AM.  Crean has great friendship with Doc.
• Fran Frachilla (spelling?) in attendance last night spoke with Dom on making plays and getting to the rim. Needs to work on shot selection
• Last night an example of Jerel making simple plays instead of making the spectacular play.  Needs to score on offensive boards and rebound more
• Wes needs to do the things he is capable of like he did last night.  Teriffic kid on and off the court.  When doesn't play well he admits his faults and corrects it much like Dwayne Wade.
• Whole team needs rebounding mentality.
• Barro not that good last night.  Inconsistancy needs to go away. Dwight and Mbakwe were battling him for PT.  Understands how to drop on penetration.
• Made 17 layups and dunks.  Missed 19 layups and dunks.
• Glad Maine got beat for messing up B&G Tourny last year!

You're right we beat them didn't we.  I was thinking Maine beat us and that's why he wished ill upon them.  It was North Dakota State wasn't it.

no.. didn't beat them.. we had a commitment from them to be in this year's B&G tourny they backed out at the very last minute leaving us hanging.. we couldn't find anyone to replace them with last minute notice and so we don't have a B&G tourny this year for the first time and quite a long while.  What comes around goes around and they're hopefully getting theirs (starting with their first loss that crean is happy about).

The Classic is exempt from all of the new rules, they can have it every year if they choose to.

They've been playing in it for about the last 45 years.

IMHO its not a big deal that we dont have the B&G classic... there werent to many good teams involved anyways it just kinda turned into the cupcake v. MU classic. and it is kinda embarrassing when we didnt win it

i suppose does it really matter we still scheduled the cupcakes just not in a tourny fashion... dont get me wrong im not complaining about the schedule... the only way ill complain is if we dont get another major school scheduled in the next year or 2 like we did with arizona in the past i think we need atleast one good game other than the UW and BE

Do you think we will be in the Big East / SEC challenge next year?  That might bring in a big opponent.  It may be tough though as we are only scheduling one OOC road game now.
