Helluva Week
« on: March 27, 2014, 02:42:24 AM »
Let's hope the mystery is solved shortly.

But as I reflect on the enormity of college basketball as a business I am dumbfounded that coaches command the salaries, status, and authority that has been given to them. I recall Al saying that it was only by signing Meminger that he could afford to pave his driveway. Coaches today are able to cow their bosses into submission, extort raises from donors, and stand as the highest paid employees not just at a university but in the state civil servant lists.

Babe Ruth, when asked how he felt about being paid more than the President in 1930, replied simply that he had a better year than Hoover.

Here's hoping this ends tomorrow. For the sake of my marriage and my career. But I'm sure part if me will miss obsessively checking these boards for any shred of an update. I am very hopeful as I attempt, again, to go to bed for the night (tough with a 7 week old).

Least productive work week all year. Hands down.

My girlfriend thinks I'm a lunatic. She says my priorities are:

1. Marquette coaching search
2. Her

Seems to me your girlfriend has a solid grasp of the obvious, and that you have your priorities absolutely correct.

This week has been one for the ages.  If we collectively put all of the time, passion, and resources that we devote to this site/Marquette basketball, the world would be an infinitely better place.

Here are a few things I'm confident the Scoop community could accomplish:

Save the rain forest
Figure out why Brent was so blindly loyal to DW
Rid ourselves of world hunger
Figure out if bird angels have four wings
Deport Justin Bieber
Solve the Malaysian flight 370 mystery
Determine if fish get cramps after eating
Eliminate Putin
Bring back Warriors nickname
Reopen the Lanche and Hegarty's

After all the freakin time we've dedicated to this site this week, if we don't come out of this with Howland or Smart (or G. Marshall), I'm going to be a threat to society.

That will never happen.   But Ners can lead the committee :)

Maybe DW will go to VT. We're not that lucky.

I actually really like Derrick aside from his shooting deficiencies. My thoughts are that Duane Wilson would have outshined him from day 1 had he not been injured. Still feel that he is going to be the real deal. Hope we can hold onto him.

Worn out here and hope we get a new coach ASAP. Been fun having some many on Scoop, but wife is tired of me being handcuffed to computer for a week. Somehow she thinks my priorities are out of whack at the moment.

I can't remember the last time I so blatantly refused to respect a process.
Has been fun though.

Least productive work week all year. Hands down.

I'm still amazed I somehow managed to accomplish a tiny bit of something at work despite non-stop refreshing of Scoop.  I hope the madness is ended at 2:00pm today.

It's been a very fun week.  Why can't we have a coaching search more often?

Thru it all, Scoop has been far more entertaining and informative than Dodd's ghost town of a board.
