Wow! That would leave us with 9 players. If we have any transfers could be even less.

Otule, Fulce and Butler stayed when Buzz was hired.

I don't expect all to leave.  Some yes, not all.

That said, it easy to want to bail from a program with no HC, as is the situation tonight.  Things will look different in a few days.

You can rest assured Marquette will not be doing Brent Williams any favors.

Yep, especially with Ahmed Hill, MU very well should restrict VT.  One can argue it's his relationship with the player and it appears spiteful, I'd argue that MU invested way too much money paying its coach to take chartered flights to Georgia every other week for a year to let that coach reap the benefits and MU see no return.

Then the new coach has 4+ spots for unsigned recruits, other recruits who get their releases due to coaching changes, and transfers, including graduate transfers who could play next year.

+1

If its Howland, Smart or Marshall they will have no problem filling these spots with quality players in the next week or two.

One of our boys played DI football and it was pretty clear - sign the LoI or we sign the kid from CA. Of course, our son was not a Top 100 recruit and football is significantly different than basketball from a numbers stand point. Football teams are signing dozens of kids each year. If a kid in Seattle hesitates the school moves quickly to the kid in LA and nobody has the least pang of guilt. It's a business.

Even worse, for the best of Buzz's recruits, other schools are after them right now.  Talking to an uncle, a father, a mother, etc to get some face time with all the principals.  The kid is just trusting the people who helped him the most in high school and isn't thinking too much about the maneuvers.   MU is right to to remind the parents of what a NLI means, be calm, wait for our new coach to talk to you.  Can't blame the kid for panicking, most any would in these circumstances.
