You sign him tonight. He would be a perfect fit for Marquette, and apparently really wants this opening. He is still a big time coach, and would crush it in the big east.  Plus he is at that age where Marquette may be the final stop for him, especially after what happened to him at ucla.

Also, Gregg Marshall can't control his staff or players. Last year I witnessed WSU beat an opponent in the final seconds of a game, Ron Baker gave double birds to the opposing fans, and then there was a scuffle started by WSU assistants against their opponents assistants in the tunnel. The coaches had to be separated by police. Good coach.  No class.

I'm not doubting his resume, but is he going to want to do some of the selling of the program that is required? He is an older coach, who was broomed out of his last job for failure to properly oversee his program.

If he's dumb enough to sign with all of the crap going on at this university and the fact that there is no evidence this conference aspires to consistent high major status, you let the idiot do it. It helps, especially when you first starting a job, to make yourself available, do interviews, try to sell the program to the fans in the area. Correct, though in Milwaukee that is not much of an issue.  My worry would be more about recruiting and his ability to grind it out to get players.  He can coach kids up, but can he get the kids needed without UCLA on the business card.  At age 57, is he willing to bust arse the next 10 years?

I still think SDSU is so overrated it isn't funny.  They also proved it again last night.  Playing in that league allows you to get on a 10 or 12 game winning streak and run up the rankings.

I couldn't take any more of that article so I just skimmed the rest... What I gathered is that Howland was the assistant coach to problems beyond his control. Yes he recruited these players, but I'm sure his discipline was at the behest of the alumni.
