Now that I have thought about it for a bit...

How do we not even make the NIT?! With the talent we had, with how much we pay our coach, with where we play....Just shocking. I understand not making the NCAA teams have down years, but this is embarrassing. With our basketball budget and what we invest in this program to not even make post season play, to go 3-12 against the NCAA teams, to have 4 more 300+ RPI opponents than the rest of the teams in our conference....Just in shock right now.

Hopefully this does not become a trend.

Marquette had an RPI of 90. Highest at-large RPI in NIT was West Virginia at 87

And if we didn't play a bunch of teams over 300+ we would have been right there. What was with scheduling this year? What is the point of playing the tough teams if you negate all of that in your RPI with the 300+ teams. Completely moronic. SOS apparently means less than we think because if you check some of those NCAA teams SO its not all that impressive.

Teams have off years. It stinks, but it happens. We were in pretty elite company with eight (8) straight tourney appearances. This year, we fell off the wagon.

What matters is how we respond next year and the year after. Buzz has earned some leeway, despite what all the whiney naysayers may scream. Let's see what next year brings before we make donkeys of ourselves.

On a side note: Michigan State football went 7-6 two years ago after three great 10+ win seasons. The message boards were full of people questioning the head coach and why he was sticking with certain players. This past season, the team started off slowly again, and you would think that the boards were going to get out the torches and pitchforks. A 13-1 season later, with a #3 overall ranking and a Rose Bowl, and all of the sudden all is good in East Lansing and Dantonio is a demi-god.

Fans are fickle. Let's try to keep the melodrama to a minimum. There is nothing to be happy about this season; it has been frustrating as hell. But, that doesn't mean we need to denigrate into whiney little female dogs that are in heat.

ND, Indiana, Maryland and MU are all done for the year for the same reason.

I'm not embarrassed at all.

Not sure about the reaction in ND and Maryland, but fans in Indiana are more than a little angry.

A bad season is understandable...sometimes things just don't go right due to factors like multiple injuries.  But when a coach is doing things that fans can see aren't working and this is the result?

Not only did MU not even make the NIT, but the freshman didn't get the playing time needed for their development for next season.  If Derrick Wilson starts at PG next season and MU fails again to even make the NIT, then Buzz should be fired.

See MUCam's post above.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
