I'll never understand why people are more afraid of Creighton then Nova.

Just use Davante like a normal team would and we can beat creighton. If they are cold, then we can really beat them.

Nova is tough all around and it took a historically bad game for them to lose...by 1.

My dumb theory: In conference tournaments, the best teams have less to play for. I'm not saying good teams don't play hard, but they aren't as desperate for wins. Seniors on mediocre teams are facing potentially the last college game of their lives. They leave everything on the court.

Upsets like SH-Nova are more likely to happen.

How desperate is DePaul? Hopefully desperate enough for them to sneak by Creighton.

Yes, there is not a sense of urgency.  Nova already has the regular season championship and at least a 2 seed in the NCAAs.

Normally I would agree with you....but after watching our "game plan" the first two Creighton games in which Davante got 3 shots and 2 shots for a total of 5 shots in two games leads me to believe we don't know how to attack them.  Third time is the charm to finally get it right?

You need a strong athletic big to take advantage of Creighton.  Davante has great agility/nimbleness, but lacks raw athleticism.  He is too easily exploited by Creighton and any benefit he can provide on offense is negated quickly on D.

They all know how he plays and will flop on contact and get the call.  They also are smart and frequently double with anyone who isn't guarding Jake...again negating his benefits.  We do not match up well with Creighton.  Swap Davante for Crowder or Jimmy and I think we would beat them handily.  (better yet swap Otule and Crowder/Jimmy).

Gardner not getting shots against Creighton has little to do with Creighton and a lot to do with our strategy playing them in our first two meetings.

But I think the way to actually play Creighton is to do the opposite of what conventional wisdom would suggest.  I think you have to attack with penetration early and often and push the tempo while playing full court pressure.

I don't think Crowder or Butler on this team makes a difference as Creighton would still likely win, but last year's Louisville team would destroy them.  Creighton doesn't have the athletes to hang with that pressure defense and transition game.  Theoretically we should have an athletic advantage as well but you'd never know it watching our game plan against them
