If MU hosts NIT game, it'll be at the Al

Twitter tracker...

@AndrewGruman: If Marquette hosts a first-round NIT game it will be at the Al McGuire Center and not the BMO Harris Bradley Center. #mubb

Best of a bad situation.  Very cool that they'd do this, and I'd hope they'd do it for any other NIT games they hosted.  Would be a much better atmosphere and a significant edge I'd say.

May need to win one in nyc to lock a top 4 seed.

Actually, they would have no choice as the BC needs to be set up for the NCAA games on Thursday/Saturday.

How the hell are they going to do tickets for this??

Pretty cool though. The crowd will be on top of the floor for once. Hope the students get some close seats, like Duke, Illinois, etc.

MU has a choice... they could defer and opt to play at the lower seeded team.  Kentucky did it last year (due to the ncaas too) and lost on the road to Robert Morris.

MU could have also have done the US Cellular instead of the Al.

I was saying at the Al. I don't think MU wants to play at the US Cellular Arena,  on the Panthers floor.

First come, first serve.  NIT first round games draw for most schools 3,000. Students will be in the student section like womens basketball and volleyball.

Can a below .500 team go to the NIT?  If so, maybe we can host ND as they will be below .500

Indiana has many good wins. They will be a 2 or 3 seed. If they are in the same region, could be a 2nd round match up.

Also don't have staff or time to set up at the Cell, which is unfamiliar to the MU folks

Rent$$. Main thing is Marquette doesn't want to be on ESPN playing a home game on the Panthers floor.

Wow, a post season game at the Al would be a nice consolation prize for me.  A mostly empty Bradley Center or the Cell wouldn't be anywhere near as neat.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

The quicker they lose in the NIT, the better. Let's be honest. Why draw attention to even being in it.?

No sarcasm.

They actually changed that rule a few years ago.  That being said, no team under-500 has ever been chosen for the NIT.

The idea of a MU men's team playing a real game at the Al McGuire Center is both cool and distressing at the same time.

Never in my wildest imagination would I think MU would need to play a game in a gymnasium that small for a home game, but it would definitely have a different cool vibe to it.

It seats 4,000. It's not that small.
