A little perspective
« on: March 05, 2014, 09:17:12 AM »
I know we are all frustrated by this season and was expecting more out of it but I think a lot of people don't realize how good we have had it the last 8 years. Maybe it was overblown expectations to start the season or the circumstances leading up to it (Blue leaving, Jake and Todd transferring and then coming back, McKay leaving) along with too much being expected out of the freshmen but as some here have known for awhile and was mentioned last night we have(/had depending on the Big East tournament) the 6th longest NCAA tournament streak.

If you look at the teams that are considered traditional powers that have not made the tournament for 8 straight years you start to realize how easy it is to have a down year and it is not that uncommon to have one from time to time. We were the only one to make it every year in the old Big East and even UNC, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, and Indiana along with many other programs have missed multiple tournaments during this time.

One bad year does not make Buzz a terrible coach, one bad year will not drive all the good recruits away. So we are having our tough year. Lets find the positives over the last few games and whatever postseason we have and then start looking forward to what next year may bring.

Well said. The future of MU basketball is bright boys. I think we are tournament worthy next season and ready for a deep run in 2 years. This year will be a speed bump, not a trend.

This team had the potential to make the tournament but the wrong players got the minutes.
