Beat writers, good or otherwise, are not allowed in the locker room before college basketball games.

That being said, it's difficult to be anything but disappointed with the way Hunt covers Marquette and, even more, the way the JS lets Hunt cover Marquette.

Chicken or the egg discussion here, as one could easily argue that if coverage of MU made the JS more money, more web hits, etc., MU would warrant a better beat writer.

None of that changes the fact that Hunt is horrible. I often wonder why they let Rosiak fill that position for so long if they are okay with a guy like Hunt mailing it in.

Because when they moved Rosiak to the Brewers beat, they made the decision that MU basketball is no longer a priority.

Rosiak was praised all the time for his coverage and sent many, many thanks you notes from MU fans.  All during the time he was covering MU basketball.

I loved Rosiak and was really sad to see him go.
