I believe X is still a fringe top 50 team and one the few top 50 teams we have beat.  I will be pulling for X.

Well it would be much better for us if CU wins. But we just need to try to win next 3 games.
Goal is National Championship

Can't believe we're living in the land of F 452/1984/Animal Farm/Brave New World/Handmaid's Tale. When travel to Mars begins, expect Starship Troopers

If Xavier wins, it will greatly reduce our chances of getting in the dance. It will be a signature win in conference, which we have none.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind. Rick Pitino: "You can either complain or adapt."

Not sure why it matters, I think X is in regardless

TAMU, Knower of Ball

If we take care of business, doesn't matter.

If we need to rely on the BET, it's bad. I want to be on Nova's side of the bracket.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Xavier hot from 3 (6 for 8) and dominate on the boards (20 to 13)

Creighton is "cold" from 3 (5 for 16)

I'm pulling for X!
It would be locks from the BE.
It makes MU's win over X, better.

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Justin Martin is having a whale of a game. 17 points, 14 boards so far.

Jalen Reynolds is having a solid game off the bench as well. 4 points, and 8 boards (5 of those offensive)

All else being equal, I'm actually cool with Xavier placing 3rd and pulling St. John's (currently 6th) in the BET. I'd much rather play Providence in the 5 vs. 4 game at the Garden. We are definitely going to need at least one win in the BET

Go X

This...and plus, I really like when Creighton loses.

...and as soon as I write that, Creighton goes on a 7-0 run and gets it to a 3 point game.

X wins.  So much for that impossible schedule to end of the year.  2-1 with another winnable in their gauntlet with another winnable game at SHU coming up.  Lock them in.

What is with all the hate for Creighton? I'm an MU grad, but grew up in Omaha and a CU fan my whole life so my loyalty leans towards CU. All I see on this board is bashing of Creighton and their fans. Because of a few drunk morons at the game in Milwaukee? I was at the game, and saw nothing but respectful Creighton fans. There are idiots in every fan base. The vast majority of Creighton fans are respectful, knowledgable fans who are beyond thrilled to be in the Big East and aspire to have the type of sustained success Marquette has had over its history. We certainly enjoy having respectful, knowledgeable fan bases in the Big East as opposed to the garbage we had to put up with against the likes of Wichita, Southern Illinois, etc.

Creighton has an excellent team this year, and full of good, likable kids. Greg McD is a class act. They don't talk trash, don't showboat to the crowd, etc. and yet this board hates them. I honestly don't get it. For four years in college, I saw Boeheim, Pitino, and a dozen other teams with absolute pricks on up and down the roster coached by raging @$$ holes...yet the hate for Creighton is almost beyond what I saw for those teams.

Who is bashing Creighton?  I wished they would have won this game.

I don't understand delighting in a CU loss. Plus dozens of other posts following the Marquette-CU game on here bashing Creighton, tons of CU hate on Twitter, and the Cracked Sidewalks podcast which was fairly negative towards CU.

They flop and whine like a bunch of badgers.  I understand the negative attitude.

?  'hate' is a strong word.  In any case, maybe it comes off that way to you, but IMO Creighton is treated like any other school on here.  In fact, I would say that this board seems more friendly toward Creighton than anything else.

The truly hated teams are Dayton, Notre Dame, and Madison.

I think anyone rooting for Creighton in this matchup as a Marquette fan is off base.  We needed Xavier to win this game.  It should solidify them as a top 50 win which they were hanging onto by a thread.  This game should sow that up, which helps us.
Shut this board down at the opening tip.  If they win, open it back up.  If they lose, keep it shut it down until the next morning.  - Sultan of Slurpery

This.

And Creighton's team is annoying. Bunch of floppers. They remind me of Madison, which is more than enough for me to root against them.

Trust me, I'm a MU fan and I hate Notre Dame, Bucky, Louisville, etc. Forgetting my bias, I don't even see how Creighton could be in the same stratosphere of dislikability as those teams. Perhaps I am off base. I hope I am.

I'd love to see MU-CU turn in to a good rivalry, but one built on mutual respect.

Creighton is the new team on the block and having a bunch of success, which I understand is annoying...but more than that, Creighton looks like a JV squad out there. When they win, opposing fans are shocked because Creighton doesn't have the look of a big-time team, thus, they're chalked up to being "floppers."

RPI wizard has Xavier at 37 after winning this game.  Last I checked they were 46-47 range.  This result is what's needed for our team's resume.  Even if Xavier loses their next two to Seton Hall and Villanova they'll end up approximately 43rd.

This game ensures we have at least two top 50 wins.  Hopefully we'll add to it tomorrow.

On one hand, I want to respond by saying that if there's so much negativity toward CU, there just might be a reason for it.  However, I'll just tell you that I currently live in Omaha (born in Lincoln and raised as an MU fan by my alum dad).  Dreamed about playing for Marquette from the time I was a little kid until I realized that I sucked when I was 16.  I grew up seeing Creighton as the enemy (terrible experience in '88 when I was 5 and my dad took me and my brother to the MU-CU game...CU fans were awful to us before the game and even worse after we lost...saw them when they came back in '96 and we won...even worse treatment from CU fans).  Being from Omaha and not growing up an MU fan, I can see why you would be fond of Creighton basketball.  But I'm not.  At all.  :)
