I agree with most of what you posted, but he needs to know his limits on the offensive end.  There were at least 2 times I can recall him forcing a bad, contested jumper, one that was a complete air ball.  His D, rebounding and hustle were good though.

Agree.  There was one time in the 2nd half, with a 5 point lead, he fired up an off balance shot as he drove hard in the lane.  There were 28 seconds left on the shot clock.  He has to understand that we don't need that shot at that point.

Does a great job rebounding and plays hard on defense.  Needs to make that his game and take whatever the other team gives him on offense.

Juan is an open court player on offense. He needs to get out on the fast break. I also think because Buzz stopped playing him a lot for a while he is worried about missing to many shots.

It's nice to have him for the little things he does here and there to help us.  But Juan's offense never had a chance to disappear, since it was never really there to begin with.

Lockett was at his best in the NCAA tournament. Playing more minutes than Juan he only averaged 7 points. Juan would score a lot more if he had the offensive attitude of Burton or Taylor.

Agree with everything here.  At some point earlier this season I said I want Juan to be aggressive and I want every player on the floor to think they can score, but after watching him brick that layup off the backboard without rim, I may want to re-think that.  I agree that he brings great energy and defense and rebounding.

And the shooting ability. Layups are hard for Juan.

It was a very solid game for Juan.  That said, those point blank airballs have to shake his confidence; I noticed that he doesn't do a good job of squaring up to the basket, he flails the ball up from odd body positions.  If he could correct that he's have a lot more success.

To the post, I didn't think Juan's first FT was going to even catch the front rim much less go in. The second attempt more met my expectations. I like Juan out there, just not at the same time as DW and CO.

Agree with most of the OP, except regarding Juan's defense on the last shot. He was on skates and did well just to not completely fall down. Jamil coming over made the difference on the alter, not Juan.

Seriously?  The kid challenges his man and backs off at the last millisecond so to avoid fouling, and you're criticizing the kid because he didn't stick his landing?

This is college basketball - the last 10 seconds of a meaningful college basketball game.  There aren't any points given for style... only for getting the job done.  Jamil and Juan both altered the final two shots by GT and did exactly what they were supposed to do.

Disagree. We have seen him for three years and his shooting is sub par. I would take Trent every time over Juan.

Thought Juan did a terrific job on the last drive for GT. Stayed with his man, JW was behind him when they both went up to contest the layup. Don't know why Juan doesn't shoot more. Jake clearly now has the green light to fire away and we have seen the results. Shooters have to keep shooting to get the touch.
