Interesting. On a related note, I'm "targeting" the White House in 2016.

Since we r talking about coaching changes....

Bruce Pearl's show cause expires after this season. Boston College is rumored to be interested. I really think the addition of Pitt and SU will help that athletic department.

I can't stand Pearl, but BC could do a lot worse.

Fr. Leahy (formerly at MU) is the president of BC.  I'd be stunned if he'd even consider Pearl. He doesn't have much tolerance for the type of ego that comes with Pearl.

Wardle to BC.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Lol. That was my first reaction. IMO, he would be a huge step up.

Also, I think BC's demise since they joined the ACC is MASSIVELY overblown. Their football has been fine. Oh, and they weren't really ever good in bball. And they were charter manners of the BE.

Correct.

That is what DePaul does, it recycles retreads.

And why stop with Howland?  How about Billy Gillespie?  Skip Plosser?  Kevin O'Neill?  Larry Eustachy?

Howland is a retread? He went to 3 final fours and got fired the year he won the Pac-12. I'd go after him in a heartbeat if Buzz ever left.

BC also survived a 1978-1979 point shaving scandal.

As for the football program, it survived a similar scandal in 1996.

I think Ben Howland is a bit of a different kind of retread than Purnell was.  Howland certainly knows how to recruit

I think the biggest problem is that their AD decided to replace fairly successful football and basketball coaches with guys who were worse.

BC made the tourney 7 times from '00-'10, they haven't been back since 2009.  They weren't a powerhuose but they had a nice stretch of success.

DePauls biggest problem is they cannot make significant inroads in the sleazy public league. Howland is not going to fix that. I believe he'd be a horrible hire. If Minnesota can grab Pitino's son and Northwestern can get Dukes top assistant, surely DePaul can get a young, fresh coach hungry to prove himself? Howland's best days are behind him. Might as well hire Gene Bartow.

If I'm Howland, I make sure the commitment to basketball starts at the top.

If the University Prez is not onboard, I wait it out.

Marquette was not relevant again until Fr. Wild bought in, brought in a real AD, and put $$ toward the program.
