Dropping Cable?

So my wife and I are considering dropping cable. Most of what we watch is over the air and we'll get a dvr for that content. We might also try hulu or something similar if we want to try a series that isn't offered over the air.

However, my hesitation right now is live sports. I used to stream a fair number in the early years of the big east before I upgraded my cable, but I haven't done that in a while. Since switching to Fox how much MU live content can be found online?

I probably can get access to watchespn but I didn't think there were many games offered. Does FoxSportsGo work well?

You need a television subscription for FoxSportsGo to work.   They don't allow an authentication arrangement through an ISP like ESPN does.

I don't have cable and don't miss it and actually like the over the air choices (and NetFlix, Apple TV) better.  But there are trade offs... for you it will be missing MU games.

You will not get to watch MU games except for a few that are shown over the air.  If you really want this or watch a lot of other cable sports content, then dropping cable is not for you.  I guess there are some illegal ways of doing it, but I don't even consider partaking in any of those options.

Realistically, you will also want to buy a Tivo or something of the sort, with a paid up subscription. I was lucky and got a free HD Tivo with a paid up subscription, so no monthly fees.  Without a convent TV Guide and DVR capability, you will miss having the cable companies DVR.

I just dropped cable for AT&T U-Verse this weekend.  Install in 2 weeks.  I didn't want to switch, but I'm going to save like $700 over the next 12 months.  I figured it was worth to try for that amount.  If it sucks, I'll take the Cablevision offer 12 months from now to switch back in which case I'll still be paying less than I'm paying them now.
