In most games it's because we focus on denying the paint. We are so good at 2P defense that teams have to jack up a bunch of threes.

In this game it's because that is Creighton's entire game.
That's what game plans are for

The only consolation from this game is that there will be two very different teams when we meet next year. Marquette will be much much better, and Creighton will sink to the underbelly of the BE.
Doubt that about Creighton. McDermott is a  damn good coach.

post game austin c just called creighton "clearly the best  offensive team in the country"

they simply are better than MU- MUs D is not that bad--it is statistically best or second best in the BE

....They are losing four of five starters. Sorry, but you don't recover from that in one season unless you are a blue blood.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

He's a fine coach bailed out by even better players. Losing the kiddo and two other great starters is going to hurt. This is NOT a deep team.

Hate losing at home.  That's three, and we'll drop Georgetown or St. John's.

dWill does not belong on the court late in the game. 46% free throw shooter. Wasn't Shaquille better than that?

Still think he should bite the bullet and start trying potty shots.  60% with guys laughing at you is less embarrassing than 46% with guys winching when you get fouled.

Our 3-pt D has been atrocious all year long. One player seems to have an all-American type game against us every night.

willie warrior

A good old fashioned ass kicking. Out played, out shot and out coached. You can now officially stick a fork in the season.
And Buzz's NCAA streak will be starting over.

This team was way overrated and is a major disappointment this year.

Get well Duane Wilson.

duane would not have changed this game much, if at all.

BUrton is lucky he made that...would have rode the bench for the rest of the game if missed

NVM, four fouls. Will be there anyway

He made it and rode it anyways...

Yes, the difference is that one team should be happy about that.

Down 5 with 7 to go and everything fell apart. What exactly about the coaching changed that allowed MU to be 2 possessions away after more than 3/4 of the game for them to then be out coached?

Amen to that. We were playing 4 on 5 again as Creighton packed it in big time. I have never seen MU so disrespected by the D at PG.

Frustrating game getting blown out at home by a mid major. Need to win out now to have a chance which seems unlikely.

Nah, Juan makes two returning.  We can get our hopes up since he finished at the rim for the first time since November.

nyg

Wragge was 6 for 8 from three and was second coming of Steve Novack.  MU 2 for 11.

MU was 20 for 36 from ft line, with two frontend misses (55%).  How can that happen after the Xavier game and close to 90%?????????

Jamil had a rough night all round. ( 4 for 11) Especially on d with McD.  An NBA player against a mediocre college player.  Not even close.

Never seen a team this year backoff of DWil like CU did tonight.

Needed that home win for bid and momentum, but didn't happen.  Run the table.

Yes, CU will be bad next year.  Very bad, like Butler this year.  They lose alot of players.

jimmybutlerfanatic

I'll be happy when this CU team gets sent home in March.

Could be shockingly early. They won't be able to keep up this hot shooting night after night in the NCAA. One slightly off night of shooting and they're back to NE.

Hope they continue winning and shooting lights out until then. There'll be a lot of hype going into the tourney and easy money to be made for those who bet against them. Will love to see all the brackets busted due to people thinking this team has a legitimate chance at a seriously deep run.

I guess it is called game management. And Buzz was out coached. Three point D, players--and it showed up in the score didn't it.

Creighton loses McDermott, Gibbs, Wragge and Manigat - their top 3 scorers and 4 starters. They will struggle a ton to replace that scoring and experience. I wouldn't be surprised ic Coach McDermott left after this season too.

Yeah--Juan plays 3 minutes a half--just like Creighton's starters. We lose Otule, Gardner, Thomas and Ja. Wilson. 19 years of experience.

No knock on Derrick but to see his Defender at the Free Throw line all night when hes behind the 3 point line with the ball.

Says we dare you to shoot. I mean its literally 4 on 5 on offense and when you playing against the best scorer in the nation. You cant expect to win. When thats what his team has to defend.

I don't think I saw anything changed from the point that Marquette was down 5 with 7 and change to go that could be attributed to coaching. Our plan got us to a legitimate chance with 7 to go. McDermott proceeded to go bananas and lead CU on an 8-2 run and MU simply couldn't come back. Unless buzz is telling Derrick to have his back to the ball or mayo to allow his man to shoot open floaters I'm not sure how you pin this on buzz.

maybe i'm dumb. but why are we back to this? seriously. we just won 3 of 4 games. do you really believe the loss is because derrick can't hit an outside shot? then how could we possible have won the past 3?
