Any Olbermann fans here?

Really like his new sports show.  No politics in the show (I think he has whacked out politics).

used to like him - sportscenter with DP; and I enjoyed in a  bemused sort of way some of his political rants; but yeah, he went (well, i guess he always was at least off the air) wackadoodle.  Have to check him out again.

bradley center bat

No, he hates college sports.

Dish

His show is outstanding.

Agree completely with this but checked it out and really liked it.  If I'm flipping channels and it's on it generally stays on.

It's a great original. It is what FS1 needed to put on the air to compete.

But give him 2 years and he'll crash and burn like he always does.

Huge Olbermann fan.    Even his politics.   But I have to agree with brandx.   His ego and narcissism will ultimately be his undoing again.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Completely agree ... So enjoy it now before he goes off the rails.

Lennys Tap

Yeah, eventually he'll go off his meds - then it's curtains.

He is a despicable human being....makes Crean look like Mother Theresa. Too many friends in the industry and the way he has treated people over the years will make you want to puke.  I will never give him one second of viewing to prop up any ratings.

WI inferiority Complexes

I love that show, and like others have stated, try to watch it every night "now," because it'll be off the air in 6 months.

Everything I've read makes me believe this is completely accurate.  But, he has not done it to me, as I don't traffic anywhere near the circles he does, and I know no one that knows him.  So, I can ignore this and enjoy the show until he goes off the rails.

It's more than accurate, it's dead to nuts right.  He is a horrific human being and the irony of his nightly assaults in the past on other people being "most terrible person in the world" is not lost on anyone in the industry.  NO ONE.

Coleman

Really, really enjoy the show. Will continue to watch nightly. That is all.

Love Olbermann, but unfortunately haven't been able to watch his sports show.  I caught a few times at the Y while working out.  I see he's still doing the "Worst Person" segment except sports related.

Anyone who can piss off Bill O'Reilly on a constant basis is a-ok in my book.

Rush Limbaugh pisses off O'Reilly too (he calls O'Reilly Ted Baxter ... Look up the Mary Tyler Moore show if you're too young to get this)

I'm guessing you're making an exception in this case.

I'll take the turd....meanwhile Olbermann is a piece of excrement and mean spirited, plus he's the biggest hypocrite on the planet.

In March '07 we got back to Camp Victory after 10 days schwacking Quds chuckleheads trying to sneak into Iraq from Iran. Our first stop inside the wire was for a long overdue hot meal. It was oh dark hundred and we were the only guys in the DFAC when a jet lagged Bill O'Reilly walks up and asks if he can join us.

O'Reilly spent 3 hours swilling vile KBR Joe with us, never once talking politics or opinion. He wanted to know about us, what we were doing, and how we felt about The Surge. He was informed, engaged, and concerned. O'Reilly has a razor sharp mind and a rapier wit. And he has a genuine interest in the welfare and safety of our deployed men and women. Put his politics aside and you have an American patriot.

Berman has a schtick that was likely useful for an unknown start-up in 1979 but somehow beneath the dignity of a leading broadcast journalism organization. I get that sports writing has always allowed for greater expression than news reporting but Berman's sin is not in being colorful but, rather, in being the story. If you listen to his pieces they are lean on insight but he masks those inadequacies with his insipid banter. I am shocked he has lasted 35 years.

There are many examples of superb sports writing. Here are some of my favorites:

"The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved," Hunter S. Thompson

"Medora Goes to a Game," George Plimpton

"The Loser," Gay Talese

"Hub Fans Bid Kid Adieu," John Updike

"You Know Me Al," Ring Lardner

"The Natural," Bernard Malamud

"The Curious case of Sidd Finch," George Plimpton

"Magic Act," Charles P. Pierce (MU Grad)

"Distance," Roger Angell

"Playing for Keeps: Michael Jordan and the world He Made,"  David Halberstam

"Ego,"  Norman Mailer
