Plus, Derrick has put together several nice games- so maybe we won't have that issue here every other day, too. Woo-Hoo!!

+1.

If anyone wants to hear the bitching, read the game thread prior to Mu's late run.

Could be another reason....like the email I got tonight.  "Didn't even know we played tonight, such a lost season".

I know people will pile on him and say he isn't a true fan, but its probably more like 4ever the other day...he just had other priorities.

I didn't get a chance to see any of the game, in meetings all of game.  Hopefully can watch it later tonight on DVR.

Nice to hear we won.  Some opportunities ahead.

We played well most of the game. Had our normal off dry spell, but D, FT's, and rebounding were all solid. That's why we won even though they shot 48% from 3's - 10 made.

+1  Still plenty to be concerned about.  Apparently some issues just won't get fixed this season.  Still nice to see Jamil and Mayo step their play up and a road win is always nice.

I don't know how to feel about this. On one hand, yes, it's easy to pile on and claim he isn't a true fan. On the other hand, different people weigh priorities differently.

I guess my question would be this (and i'm fully aware you can't answer for that person): if Marquette had 2, 3, 4 losses on the year so far, would this person be making it a priority to watch the game/team? I don't question other people's fanhood, or at least i try not to. but at the same time, it kinda annoys me that people only put more priority on their supposed team when they're successful. That's when it's easy to be a fan, IMO.

Yeah, I think it depends on what peoples priorities are. For me I see pretty much every game no matter what. Only a few conflicts that get in the way.

By definition, your email friend isn't much of a fan. I mean, I've been a fan for 48 years and I've NEVER not known when, where and whom we were playing. Believe me, Ners, Dreadman, Willie, etc. know we played tonight but without Buzz or Derrick to rip or one (or more) of the freshmen to champion it's just no fun for them.

Anyone can jump on or off a bandwagon - that's not what real fans do.

I don't know the root of his decision, but if I had to guess as the losses piled on, whatever other engagement he had tonight probably became a much easier decision.  Or, he just forgot.  If we only had a few wins, he's probably more excited about the upcoming game, top of mind, knows it is coming up, doesn't schedule another event, etc.  Just a guess.  In many ways, no different than attendance for teams that struggle to meet expectations? Seats that were filled in the beginning, not as much as you go through the season...people opting to do something else I suppose.  Not much difference.  Different strokes for different folks.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying he's a bad guy. I have friends who follow MU when they're doing well and not so much when they struggle. I have no problem with that. They would readily acknowledge that they're not real fans. I imagine your friend would, also.

What "decision"? The decision to not even know we had a conference game tonight with our season hanging from a thread? Please. He didn't make a decision to not give a sh$t, he just doesn't.

I don't know.  He's a fan, did something else....I think if we were doing better he would have taken more notice, remembered it, put it in the calendar, etc.  Just a guess.  4ever did the same thing the other day, opted for something else....don't think anyone here would say 4ever isn't a fan...we all know he is.   Watching the first few minutes of this game....yikes...looks like Seton Hall fans certainly decided to do something else.  Attendance = not good.

You're backtracking. 4ever may get fed up, take a game off, whatever. I'd be shocked if he didn't even know we were playing a conference game like your friend. Again, not saying your buddy isn't a good guy or that he wants MU to lose or anything like that. But he's not much of a fan (IMO) if he doesn't even know we're playing with the season hanging in the balance.

vogue65

I was at the game tonight in Newark and can report that this is a real team and we have some really smooth shooters.   We out hustled Seton Hall, were well balanced, and showed the confidence of a mature team.   Seton Hall fans are very down on their team and coach, but had many loyal fans nonetheless.   Even ran into an MU fan from 1972 night school, wearing a Warrior sweat shirt, with his extended family, which qualifies as a real fan in my book.

A:1.They're all disappointed. 2.they knew their team had a game tonight,
