If you're asking will he stiff us, the answer is yes.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

If 4-star Nick Noskowiak is the #53 rated player in the country, why doesn't he have a better list of offers? No disrespect intended to Creighton, Iowa State, Northern Iowa, UWGB and UWM, but is it because he committed to MU so early that some teams haven't even bothered?

When a kid commits as a sophomore to MU and calls it his "dream school."  How many coaches are going to miss dinner with their family to fly to Wisconsin to watch him play and try and change his mind?

If you look at the interested schools that didn't offer at the time he committed to MU it included Bucky, Florida, Iowa, and Minny, all solid high majors. Seems to me Buzz just got to him before the others had a chance.

Would Diamond Stone be the highest rated recruit MU ever got?

Did they even have recruiting rankings like this in the Al years?

Street & Smith was the big dog back then for recruiting info (still have all the old mags from the '70s) and I know Bernard was a 1st team pre-season high school all-American.

I have a very strong memory of Toone being ranked second in the country, I believe that he is still MU's highest ranked recruit, ever.  Bo Ellis was high also, I don't remember how high.  I have no idea where Chones, Lucas, and Meminger were ranked, but they had to be near the top, I'd think.  Oh, and Butch Lee would have been high also.  Doc Rivers might have been top 20.

That's awesome.  Pull the mags out.  Give us the answers.

Oh, and if you've got the early 80's mags, please verify that Marc Marotta was a top 100 recruit for me.  IIRC, he was ranked somewhere around 60, but BamaMarquetteFan won't believe me w/o proof.

Actually, Toone was 2nd team pre-season. Had some decent guys on 1st team - Darryl Dawkins, Bill Willoughby, Bill Cartwright, Kyle, Macy).
In '80, Doc was 1st team and in '81, Duane Johnson was 2nd team, Walter Downing 5th team and Mandy Johnson was 6th team.

As far as Marotta is concerned, he was on the list of the top 200 players after the first 6 teams. It wasn't broken down more than that.

What was interesting is that in '81, 10 of the top 30 recruiting classes went to Independent schools and even a junior college was in the top 30. Times change.
